Default clear event log

Click BB button once. "screen full of icons appears

Click BB button again "choose show keyboard"

Click and hold the !?123 button "bottom left corner" This locks the keyboard

Type ,5,5

, equals comma for those who aren't sure.

Your welcome! You may now clear the ever massive log!

Have yet to figure out soft reset without battery pull. Let me know if you find out how and I will do the same.

How to press the comma (,) with the locked numberpad?

No ideas on soft reset, but with the keyboard in landscape mode, 2*92 will bring up the help screen.

Use the free app "Soft Reset". I've had it on my last three BBs and it still works.

Thanks

Insider information.

I found that the ever awesome soft reset software has issues with compatibility, although it can work. It just sits in the download icon after being installed. You can click on it and it will say it is reinstalling itself and cause the device to reset, which is the results needed.

p.s. mine definately has to be reset to keep the memory up. Seems RIM dropped the software ball once again. Sucks as this phone is awesome otherwise. I lost 10 mb after a soft reset by letting the phone sit in the holster for an hour. IMAGINE THAT!

I have tested the quickpull and softreset softwares and they are completely identical and functional on my STORM.

WARNING: Both will tell you that you need to reboot in order to install the product when initializing a reboot, even though you already did that, after you initially installed it. It is an extremely minor bug with it's compatibility, but they both get the job done.

search google for blackberry and then the name of the product and free downloads will come.

For some reason when I do the ,5,5 it locks the device. And I know for a fact that I did it before on the storm.

Figured it out....it has to be done in portrait mode not landscape.

Alternatively, from the home screen in portrait mode hold the Back button and click the top left corner, then the top right, then the top left, and the top right again. Brings up the same menu.

Nice find. Similar to viewing the status "under option", but with more information. Keep them coming!

From the main menu you can also:

1. Go Landscape (flip it sideways)
2. Hit the BB button
3. Choose Show Keyboard
4. Hold down the Numlock key until it locks (the "!?123" button)
5. Hit the following four keys -> " / " /
6. The log comes up.

The first 4 steps is like holding down the ALT button. The keys you hit in step 5 above converts to L G L G. In your method, the portrait keys for the letters map to different keys (,5,5). You did it a different way but if a letter is the second letter on a key in Portrait mode, it won't work

Try:
EACE or 2 * 9 2 = Help Me screen
ESCR or 2 4 9 3 = Help Me screen
NMLL or ! , " " = changes the signal level to numeric. Doing it again sets it back to a graphical bar

Haven't found a way to do a soft reset yet.

Is it safe and beneficial to clear the event log of your phone? I just did mine using the method that "Santo" gave in the landscape mode that was easy to do. Just wondering what it does to your device. Does it make it faster or provide quicker access to RAM or memory?

It clears a VERY small amount of memory on your BlackBerry. It does not make it faster..
