I thought that it would not need to be unlocked if I changed the OS. Plus browser to work TMobile.
Dude, for the 4th time. YOU CAN'T. The 8330 won't work on T-Mobile!! Where would you put the SIM?

Wink In summary...

Okay everyone, let's make this simple.

The BlackBerry Storm series is distinct from most BlackBerry devices in that it carries both CDMA and GSM technology. That means that the Storm:
  • Is natively coded to the Verizon CDMA network;
  • Can, when your account is set to support world roaming, contact international GSM networks with registration through the pre-installed Verizon SIM card; and
  • When unlocked, register on any GSM network using any replacement SIM card.
Verizon will unlock your Storm on request once you've had the phone for a certain number of months (three, I believe; it may be six), which represents the time needed to "earn out" the discount you got on the phone when you bought it.

If you have an AT&T or T-Mobile account, you can easily and transparently insert a SIM card for one of these (or any other) GSM network into your Storm, and it will connect and register on these networks. So yes, it's easy to use a Storm on the AT&T or T-Mobile networks.

CDMA doesn't work like GSM. There are no SIM cards; registration is based on coding. So, as has been discussed here ad naueseum, you cannot easily -- and probably cannot at all absent inside connections to the companies involved -- de-register a particular device from Verizon and register it with Sprint, or vice versa. Therefore, no, you will not be able to use a Storm on the Sprint network.

Just take this for what it is, or if you don't like the answer, start by studying the technology. If you figure out a way to hack and trick the systems into allowing your Storm to connect to Sprint, great; keep it to yourself, because it's illegal.

Cheers.
