i've noticed alot of the solutions to problems involve battery pulls. is this common for everyone to do this when they first encounter a problem? is this just accepted by everyone that this is just the way for blackberrys or is it only phones that have real problems that have to do this everyonce in a while? i didn't know if everyone who owned a blackberry does then when they have issues just b/c it's what your supposed to do? if you continually do it alot does this mean your bb is defective or just something you need to live with?
thanks,
alan
sorry for the noobness i maybe young in age but i'm stuck in the older times when it comes to technology.
A battery pull is the first thing to try in a problem, (a problem which may never occur since) because you are removing the power, resetting the system.
If you have to do a battery pull more than once a day everyday, then theres problem.

Its a service practice that dates back to the late 1700's when a wise man first uttered the words 'Thou shalt turn it off, then shalt turn it on again'
I hate to say it, but as with all things in technology, if theres a problem turning it off and on sorts out most problems!
Think of it this way, if you are having weird problems with a mac or PC, whats the first thing you do? Reboot! Since doing a softboot on a BB doesnt clear out the memory fully a battery pull is the best way of clearing out the RAM.
Like most gadgets like cellphones, PDAs, PCs, Macs, etc.. A good reboot does wonders.. I was working at tech support for Macs and Windows before, and 75% of computer problems can be fixed with a power cycle reboot..
well i've owned my blackberry flip pearl only for about 5 days and i've had to do this twice already. yeasterday when a pic message wasn't sending. everything else functioned but it was sending for like 5 mins. maybe i was to quick for that one. and then today when i woke up and my phone was off and wouldn't turn on until i pulled the battery and then turned it back on. do you think i may be in line for a long list of issues if this stuff is starting this early?
thanks,
alan
yeah so i'm discovering but i haven't downloaded anything. or updated its as stock as it come from the store with lasted software? so i don't think i should be having any memory issues yet should i?
thanks,
alan
I didn't have to pull a battery on my Iphone. Oh! That's right you have no access to the battery on an Iphone.
My compnay wanted me to get corporate emails and got me a 9700, and so i gave up my Iphone.
Let's see my 9700 has had problems with initial enterprise server setup, voice dialing, and the latest is thinking it is still in headset mode while making a call.
All in all I would say apple is light years ahead of RIM with overall quality.
