NOTE!!! I could not get this to work... then remembered from setting the 8100 up to work with Cingular that the info is CASE sensitive!!! The CORRECT info for Cingular 8100 users is:

Telephone#: wap.cingular
Account name: [email address]
Password: CINGULAR1

The Telephone number must be in ALL lower case to work!!

Connects perfectly from my MAC G5 Dual 2.5, OS 10.4.7! Not very fast, but great to have in an emergency!

I can't get the script to show up in the pull down. I have rebooted mulitple times. I took out the .txt from the file name. I tried saving it mulitple ways, but "Blackberry 8100" won't show up in the pull down. Any ideas???

How do i save the script in textedit if I want it to work correctly?

I have a Macbook pro.

I appreciate any help. This is killing me!

Default Folder?

Are you sure that you have put it in the corrct folder? becasue i personally cant think of another reson for it not working:
make sure that you have put it in the folder: Macintosh HD>Libary>Modem Scripts

hope that helps

Default Still wont work!

Ok this is killing me! I have tried everything and read and re read this post 100 times!! the problem is that i will say connecting and then immediately change to disconnecting, it's not even like it gets connected at all. I cant figure out how to display the log but if I could I would post it up here. I have 1 or 2 bars of signal here but that is pretty sketchy so do you think that could have something to do with it?

Hi,

You can see the log in Internet Connect by Choosing Window -> Connection Log from the menu bar. Low signal can definitely be a problem when connecting, and will limit your connection speed if you do successfully connect. However, it sounds like there's a problem with your setup - are you sure you have the phone number set to wap.voicestream.com? Username and Password are both set to 'guest'?

One clarification needed: Does this work with T-Mobile's $30/month Blackberry Unlimited plan, or does one need to have a Total Internet plan in order to use tethering?

Yeah, i have checked and rechecked to make sure that I had all of the settings written correctly, I think I am giong to try to bring it to somewhere with better reception tomorrow to see if that changes anything.

When I attempted to connect tonight all I got in teh connection log was this:
Thu Nov 23 22:26:31 2006 : Connect script failed

Do you think it would have anything to do with the fact that I put the modem script into word and then dragged it into the modem script folder and deleted the .doc at the end of the file name?

from what i understand, you need to save the script as a (plain) text file (not RTF, and not .doc)

once you have done that, if there is a file extension, highlight the icon and get info (cmd - i), and delete the ".txt" file "name & extension"

If the script is failing that quickly, it's usually because the file itself has become corrupted. Try right-clicking on the script link on my blog and choosing 'Save As', rather than left-clicking.

If that doesn't work, check the Connection Log (Window -> Connection Log in the Menu Bar of Internet Connect) and see what log information is generated when you try to log in. PM me and I'll see if I can help.

Thanks ggoodale!

the right click worked.
i didn't realize such a small script could get corrupted so easily!

for the record, i'm getting 80 down and 7 up, with full bars, and 69/5 at 3 bars.
good enough to set me free from the office!

Just rename the file to remove the .htm extension - the rest of the directions still apply.

This works with any BlackBerry data plan - even the $20 one.
