i read through the guide and it looks just fine.

this should work, but if oyu have any reservations, just go download the installer for the version of the OS you have now and make a backup.

that way, if something goes wrong, you can restore to the OS you have now and then you can restore the backup file.

boom! you wont even notice that your blackberry was temporarily w/o an OS

You won't. Besides, a 507 error is far from bricked!

I have no data plan either, after 2 hours of reading trough forums, I downloaded Blackberry Swiss army knife (BBSAK), wiped the device and installed the new OS 5.0 with no problems. I did the second update to the 5.0 without having to wipe my device.

Don't forget to backup your data before doing this. Hope it helps, it helped me.

Always check your device (left ALT + hight SHIFT + h ) for the version and build and other information.

then check here

http://www.blackberryforums.com/beta...-releases.html

to find out the latest known OS's for your device. read through the thread to see if people aer having any sort of major problem.. if they are, it might be worth skipping.

the latest - publically released - version will be available as a sticky in the top of this forum.

it just so happens that the version released in the betta forum is the exactly same as the version available in this one.

so, basically you need the OS here:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

dont forget to read throuh to get an idea of waht you are getting yourself into!
