Perhaps you should try rebooting your PC to clear the memory and then try.

hello,

I have read this thread as I was searching for a solution to my BB problem.
I bought a used BB curve 8520 and activated the blackberry internet service however it keeps giving edge instead of EDGE. I tried restarting by removing and putting the battery but it did not work.
I went to a local shop and the owner told me I have to upgrade to OS 5. I downloaded the OS that fits by service provider (MTC touch) from the RIM blackberry official website.
I installed the OS on my pc then connected the BB but the desktop software says there are no updates for the BB sometimes and at other times it says that updates for the phone are only for those connected to the BB service which I am connected to. I did delete the vendor.xml file. Don't know what USB issues with the PC are present.
In the phone there are no entries in the Host Routing Table and every time I click register now it says the registration message has been sent.
I contacted my service provider they said there is no problem from their end.
I tried the SIM card on another BB. The connection worked.
I know you said do not wipe you handheld through Java loader if your device is working fine and are simply attempting to upgrade your OS and you can't get the OS to load or be recognized by Desktop Manager or Loader.exe. But do you think I should give it a go?

Worth a shot at this time but seems weird still why it isn't allowing EDGE for your data is MTC touch a full game company?

Does your carrier, MTC Touch, support EDGE? Are you in an area with a strong signal

I'm new to all of this and my bold 9700 loads 3/4 of the way and then continues to reboot. It had an Error 507 page then shut off. I've installed the JL_Cmder and the black screen came up and I was trying to wipe my blackberry but then it says it doesn't recognize my device. What do I do now??!

Thumbs up Re: JL_Cmder

Thanks! several years from first post and still active and usefull. Got rid of IT restrictions from a used corporate Bold 9700! Wouldn't let me use WiFi for Internet -- or perhaps it was a greedy original service provider pushing the phone to $$ Wireless services.
Anyway, still works, still useful. Had no problems w Win7 usage (ver 1.9.4).

remove battery, insert charger and once RED LED lights put in battery for 2 minutes.

Try above 6 times or until it turns on, ifit does not after 6 times, you can try more but it might just be dead.

Thank You for the thread. This is probably the most relevant piece of data on the entire e-space. I was turned down by operator saying it is handset issue - contact BlackBerry, BlackBerry said its your policy issue - contact employer, employer IT helpdesk never picked up phone! Thanks again..

I was now able to download BlackBerry Protect and duly restore my data.

Keep up the good work!

On W7 64 bit I noticed the same symptoms you describe. However, it did successfully drop the files into \Program Files (x86)\JL_Cmder. If you navigate there, you can launch the utility itself from JL_Cmder.cmd.

CHOICE.zip

replace the choice.com file with this one in JL CMDR folder to work on 7 64 bit
