Most likely, IT will want to test it first.
I sort of agree with this, but only from the BES, since the carriers do not typically release the handheld code to the public until it's finished their QA process I don't know why your IT shop would then run it through their own. With the Server software, certainly test it, the carrier won't.

SOP in IT shops. I want to get to know the OS features, ensure that any 3rd party apps still function properly and that all of the IT policies apply correctly. I do the same thing with any new version of any software. The carrier releasing it only proves that they will support it.

I almost got thru the entire loading/sync and I got the following error message. Cing 7290 on corp BES. I did delete my vendor files after installation and sync'd after restart. Anyone know what this is?

"Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation.

Application data could not be restored to the device. The backup data file has been saved to "C:\Documents and Settings\a205154\My Documents\LoaderBackup-(2006-03-06)-1.ipd". You can use the Desktop Manager Backup/Restore tool to restore this information.

Service book injection was unsuccessful.

Policy injection was unsuccessful."

Thanks,
Brendan

So i did some more searching around and went ahead and deleted the backup data file (there were 5 of them and I deleted them all). I went ahead and opened the app loader and did the reinstall after removing all installed apps. It got to the very end, I thought I had made it as I saw the new connected to desktop icon on the bb, but it crapped out and I got the same "Unable to complete the loading operation" as mentioned above. Do I need to blow away the 4.1 os and start refresh?

Alright, now I have really messed this thing up and I feel like I am talking to myself! Any help?

Here's what I did. I blew away 4.1 thru the control panel and tired to reinstall it. It seemed to reinstall correctly but doesnt activate the desktop manager? Basically it is showig in Remove software but the is no Blackberry option under Programs. Not sure what to do except try to uninstall 4.1 again and go back to my normal 4.0. Does anyone have any input that could help me?

I am searching my azz off but I feel like I am on a 28.8 kps dial up and not a T1 line!

Can someone please offer some input here?

Update: I downloaded the javaloader and blew away everything on my BB. I knew it worked as it displayed the 507 error message. I went ahead and reinstalled my corp approved BB os (3.6.3.11) and handheld (4.0.2.56). I went ahead and download the 4.1 hong kong csl. Before installed I deleted my vendor.xml file. Upgraded seems to work fine however when I open up the App Loader it says "No system software was found for your device". Now I got this to work earlier today but now nothing. My bb was working before I did this.

Can someone please help me??? Everyone is quick to crush someone who doesnt search but I am clearly searching...

Did you try desktop manager 4.1 with the handheld OS Hong Kong CSL4.1.
Also do you have a second USB cable or try it on another computer.

So which DESKTOP and HANDHELD software did you install?
Did you install 3.6.3.11>4.0.2.56>CSL 4.1?

I couldnt fint desktop 4.1 from cingular so I upgraded to 4.0.2.92. After doing that I was able to use the App loader but it still wasnt reflecting the HK CSL 4.1. I went in and removed vendor.xml and my back up file and then reinstalled hk csl 4.1. After that I went back and the app loader didnt recognize anything. My OS is still reading 3.6. Do I need to upgrade to 4.0 first? I wount think so. I feel like I am in Ground Hog day!

I know my USB works as just a few minutes ago it read it.

I had the 7105t and already went back and forth a couple time on OS without any problem, this is how I do it. (tmobile4.0>csl4.1>csl4.0chinese>csl4.1)

Download desktop and handheld 4.1 from the Hong Kong CSL site. https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B42B2DBB8F27B6 (Not sure 7290 is same as 7280)

Uninstall both desktop manager and handheld software from you computer. (you should have only two blackberry entry under windows ADD AND REMOVE PROGRAMS)

Use java loader and wipe handheld.

Install new desktop manager and handheld OS software on the computer.

Locate vendor.xml, either modify or delete it.

Hook up computer to handheld and start application loader.

EDIT-- Did you install handheld OS onto the computer, I didn't see you mention that on your post.

I just deleted the vendor.xml file again and reinstalled 4.1. 4.1 was in the app loader this time but if history is any indication I will get the "unable to complete the loading operation" just near the end of the device initialization.

I removed 4.1 earlier but I didnt do the handheld. if this doesnt work I guess I will try to that. Please God......

Default SMS not working

Hope someone can help me with this. I just upgraded my 7100T. It's unlocked and I'm using it on the Cingular network. After I installed 4.1 my SMS doesn't show up on my list of ways to send messages. I only have Email and MMS. How can I get my SMS back.
