Will other companies (tmobil, at&t) come out with the 7290 anytime soon? If so, will there be a chance of those later BB's to come with OS 4.0?

Well I guarantee 4.0 will come out for all devices as an upgrade, problem is, the general 4.0 available to consumers now is nto meant for the 7290.. as they arent released for that specifc device.

I bet other companies will have the 7290 later in the year or next year, but currently its a Cingular only device.

My understanding is the 7290 will be unlocked and thus can be used with any provider. Apparently all other Blackberry's that Cingular has released have been unlocked. Am I mistaken on that? So it should be as easy as updating your PIN/IMEI in the web client if you want to to use the 7290.

I have a Cingular rep getting me one today

All my local Cingular shops have them.

I just got off the phone with what I think may be an indirect, and they have them too.

So was there a floodgate of 7290's or something?

Will Cingular shops sell to you without an existing Cingular account?

Sure, they don't care. Tell them you're a customer if they require it.

Just don't expect to pay 149. It'll probably be 500 bucks.

Where are you guys that you're finding the 7290's?

I'm in NJ and every Cingular store I called says they don't have them and that they would have to special order.

I even called my firm's corporate rep. up in Roseland, NJ and he said they don't have them in inventory yet.

I'd love to pick one up today if I could find it!

Apparently the directive is to run the 7280 stock before pushing selling the 7290...

I placed an order for one online last Friday (10/01), and my order noted that it would ship 10/05. I called today b/c the online order status page had no info, and they said to call back tomorrow for a tracking number.

I also called my two Corp. Cingular stores and one said that they do not stock any Blackberry's. The other said that they did not have it in stock (but they did have the 7280). I asked him since the website said was due to ship tomorrow would they anticipate having them for sale. He said that would not be likely.

My Cingular rep told me that despite the Cingular web page announceement that the 7290 will ship on October 5, it won't actually be available until October 15th. Drat.

Man, this stinks! I ordered a 7290 yesterday. Order status does indeed say its on backorder. Oh well, just wait. Any idea how number portability would work with this. I transferred my number over cause Im going to be a new Cingular customer. I suppose it wont change until I get the phone.

For the life of me I don't why they feel the need to advertise and sell things before they even have them in stock.

Not looking good for those of you waiting on 7290s. Cingular had been saying they would be shipped on 10/5 and now they have taken the 7290 off their website all together and replaced it with the 7280. Some others here have said they are indeed getting theirs. I am still waiting and cingular is still telling me it is on backorder. If you want to get one, you cant even purchase one right now since they took it off the site.
