Default custom vibrate alert for email or phone call

Please Login to Remove!

I have a major gripe with my 7100t. Many times while I'm driving, I'll receive emails causing my bb to vibrate. This is cool and all, but I hate having to look at the device each time to see if it's an email or phone call. I know I can customize phone calls to vibrate & tone, but when the radio is up and the windows down, good luck hearing the tone....Boy did BB drop the ball on not allowing customers to assign a custom vibrate alert for both incoming email or phone call. In a perfect world, I could assign emails 1 vibrate and phone calls 2 vibrates....if this can be done please advise....With that said -- I LOVE the 7100t!!

there's 10,000 other threads about this. use the search function and find some of them. heck, you can actually look on the first page in this forum and find 1-2 of them..

If so, then I ask that you please direct me in the right direction since neither Rim nor T-mobile have a solution for my current problem. As of 11:35 PM, per T-mobile, there is no current option of selecting custom vibrating alarms for distinguishing emails from phone calls. Thanks for your helpful response though..

Open profiles, there is a phone option and a messaging option no?

Oh I see what you mean on my 7780 it buzzes twice and you can change it. I put my email to buzz and my phone to vibrate and ring.

I still dont know why they havent included the ability to assign different ringtones for each contact. I know you can do it with thirdparty software though, but Ive been hoping they would release it in the OS software.

You've got to be kidding me!! I know how to conduct a search, but what I don't know is how to resolve my issue, which you clearly think is posted on this forum. So the challenge for you is to point me in the direction for the answer located on this or any other board, which by the way does not exist.

Look for the link to Message Alerts

The vibrate for email is one long vibrate.

Why would you use vibrate for incoming messages anyway, I have mine beep like a tricorder. But then I get more email than the normal human. *shrug* Those new email vibes are draining your battery bud.

Hey jibi,
I think you misunderstand the concept of a message board. Thanks to all that contributed. Looks like the app will offer a solution, but what I was ultimately trying to convey was Blackberry's poor design concerning custom messaging alerts. With that said, the 7100t has met and exceeded most of my expectations.

if there have been literally 5 threads in the last 2 weeks about the same question, and you make a thread dedicated to this same question, then you are obviously missing the message board concept of 'search before posting'. literally, by searching for various keywords that seem fairly obvious with this functionality/solution request, you would have found the topic that emale posted. by searching for previous topics, it not only allows you to be able to find previously posted information, but it also keeps the forums less cluttered and the people replying won't sound like broken records.

FYI, concerning the Message Alerts application:
