Default OS v 4.5 customisation resulting in error

Please Login to Remove!

Hello! Ever since I bought by 8100 second had, these forums have been immensely useful. Specifically, this guide http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ee-memory.html has saved me so much memory.

Anyways, I figured it was time to join the community, and now I have a few questions.
I searched all over, but I can’t find the answer to this. I installed the 4.5 OS onto my 8100 after going through the guide listed above, and was surprised to see a few new applications. The new Office file viewers are awesome, but what really got to me was the new voice notes recorder application. When I run the program, I get the following error message: “Voice Notes Recorder has been disabled by your System Administrator”
I never disabled anything… so how can I fix this? Voice notes are incredibly important to me… it’s the thing I missed most when I got this BB.

my other question: how can i remove the MediaNet browser configuration? its not something i will ever use and i need as much memory as i can get... removing it would be wonderful.

Is your BB device connected to a corporate BES for your service? Having an IT Policy restriction from a BES could disable the voice notes.

Just hide the Media Net... highlight it on the screen, Menu > Hide. If you delete the service book for it, my experience is that it will get pushed back again and again by AT&T. But try it and see (Options > Advanced > Service Books).

Good luck, and welcome to the BBForums.

**Moved to Beta software section**

I wasn’t aware this qualified as beta software, but thanks.
And no, this BB is not connected to any server. All data management is done on the phone its self of through the desktop software. It only syncs with my local outlook installation. That having been said, how can I modify my *local* administrative policy?

I read elsewhere that the service books would be put back on reboot, and I was wondering if there was a way to separate the service books from the browser component prior to installation on the device. If not then I’ll have to settle for simply hiding the device.

Thanks for your help… and the welcome

If you bought the device second-hand, it appears it has a lingering restrictive IT Policy left on it from the prvious owner. You can remove it (or least you can load a blank non-restrictive IT Policy to it).

short of the BES is there any way i can *edit* these policies?

==== edit ====

AFAIK, this phone was never used with a cooperate BES. It was always a personal phone, and I personally wiped it after purchase.... so how is is at all possible that there is any IT policy left over at all... unless ATT can push one to my phone (my carrier is ATT)

As it has OS 4.5 you can use JL CMDER to remove the IT Policy. It is much easier then to use the FAQ instructions

Well, that dosent work w/ 64 bit versions of windows. it uses a COM file which is 16 bit... something that 64 bit windows installations do not support.

if i can try this on my laptop, how do i use the program to remove the IT policy?
