Default Question about the Home screen of BB9700 Bold

Please Login to Remove!

Good day. I am thinking of buying a blackberry 9700. I am like 70% sure of getting this phone. Today,, thing changed a bit because I found out that samsung has a new smart phone called the samsung galaxy S. What attracted me to this samsung phone is that the entries that you put in the calendar come out in the home screen come the due date of the appointment.

now my question is- does the blackberry have a similar feature to this? wherein i input a birthday or an appointment that i have nad when the due date comes close, these reminders come out in the home screen of the blackberry... ? i don't think that the calendar of a certain phone would be useful if the appojntment do not come out in the home screen. i am the type of user who would just type appointments or meetings in the calendar and i assume that when i look at my phone, all calendar entries that are due come out in the home screen and i do not have to enter the calendar just to check my appointments... please clarify...

also, can i get like wether updates? stock updates, etc in the home screen?

You would need to find a Today theme, but it would display the next 3 (or however many) appointments all the time, regardless of due data.

You would need 3rd party apps to get weather updates and stocks etc.

Go with the samsung.

Today items on the BlackBerry will always show if you have a today theme, unless you get a theme that has a way to hide the today items or use a hidden today when you scroll over the icon it shows the entries. If your looking for a better looking home screen then Android will be better due to the user customizable widgets. However the BlackBerry is also a good device. You can't just judge a phone by the look of the home screen. It should be how the phone will function for you and your needs

where do you get the 'today theme?' do you have to download it? or is it already pre installed in the blackberry?

also, i just basically want to know if the calendar notes entrie will automatically show in the home screen... i am not the type of person who would always go and look at the calendar... i am assuming since i have inputted appointments/ meetings in the calendar, these notes would automatically show up in the home screen...?

You download a today theme.
They will not show on the homescreen unless you download a today theme.

Go with the samsung, really.

On Today themes, the calendar entries will show on there all the time until it's past...reminders...they are a pop up that you can open/dismiss/close

If you go to the precision theme and go to your application menu, hit the bb menu button go to options, scroll to Layout then choose Today. That will give you a idea on what a Today theme would look like and show on the calendar. As far as wanting new icons or a different layout then you would need to get another theme

so based on this, there is really no need to download or pay for a theme, since there is already a 'today' theme in the bb9700 that will show me my appointment for the day or for the next few days... just wanted to clarify...

There are plenty of free themes out there. Check out pimpmyberry.com for one. Google it and you will find more.
