Default New message indicator but no messages

Please Login to Remove!

I have an new message indicator (1 with and envelope icon) on the top row of the screen. When I roll the track ball over the Message icon it shows (1) Message, however there are no messages when I click on the message icon. How do I get this message indicator to go out?

I have eight FB mssg's showing but they have all been read - no new ones. I've pulled the battery but its still there. The LED only starts blinking if I get a new one but I cannot get the mssg indicator off my screen????

Go into Facebook and then Notifications. Press T, then press the menu key, and select Mark Prior Open.

no need to reinstall...

Most likely a saved message. If you "save" (by select Save from the menu when a message is highlighted in a messages folder) a message before you read it, it gets saved to "Save Items". If you then delete the item in the message folder, the new message indicator stays, and the unread message count does not change, because the item still remains unread in the saved items folder even though you deleted it from the messages folder.

The "fix" is simple. Make sure you set to show all icons on the home screen. Find the "Saved Messages" icon. Click on it. See the message. Delete it.

There you go.

Again I have a new message icon (a 1 next to a envelope with a red star on the upper right) at the top of my home screen to the right of the battery indicator. I can not get this icon to go away. Rolling the track ball over the Message icon does not show any messages. Clicking on this icon shows "No Messages". A battery pull does not resolve the problem. I can not find a "Save Items" folder as suggested above. I have looked at all the icons (not just the ones on my home screen) and can not find a folder where this message might be.
When a second new message is received I get a second new mail icon. I can read this second message and delete it, and the icon goes away.

I understand the problem. You don't need to repeat. I 100% guarantee you the issue is with a Saved item.

Since you cannot find the "saved items" folder (which is there somewhere, as it is on every blackberry), look at your saved items this way:

1-go into any mail folder
2-press the blackberry key below the screen to open the menu
3-scroll down in the menu
4-select "show saved messages"
5-delete the saved item

There are no messages in my Saved Messages folder.
