Still nothing on proclip's site as of the time of my post... DAMMIT.

I'm just not interested in a "universal" that, oh by the way, happens to fit the 8700. I can buy that at Target anytime I want, or make one outta duct tape and tongue depressers As posted earlier in this thread, once you've used a proclip - specifically designed for your specific BB - it's hard to accept anything less.

So, I'll keep waiting...

PRO CLIP NOW ON WEBSITE! www.proclipusa.com

The ProClip for the 8700c is now on their website. Looks like it will be in stock this Friday 1/27...

I've got mine on order.

Their clip for the 7290 is great! Hope the 8700c works as well!

I ordered mine too, but because I'm in Canada, I was referred to www.ppsonline.net to order and save substantially on shipping.

I ordered my 8700 ProClip last night too - CAN'T WAIT! Not having a clip and having my 8700 sliding around on my passenger seat has been killing me... Yeah, I must suffer from OCD, but at least a resisted my impulse to spend a zillion dollars to have the thing shipped next-day air

How do you "pro clip" users like the car instal? I am worried about how it blocks the air vent. Any comments?

I have looked at other options (from pro clip) for my car but they do not offer one that fits on the left (drivers) side of my console that does not block the vent.

Thanks for any input !

It's an idea I may need to try...
Have any of you had problems with the reception on the radio when the berry is up close to it? For instance, mine hangs in a bag near the dials and as it is charging I will get static from the radio.

That GSM static problem could make the proclip airvent mount unuseable for me. Gotta take another look at the console mount...drats!

I'm going to try this route. Has anyone used this combination before with other devices? If so, how did it work out for you?

This case:

With this belt clip/button option:

With this Pro-Clip mount:

The ProClip mounts are good in a number of situations but overall we prefer the Pro.FIT or Panavise VSM mounts. They are vehicle specific and require no holes be drilled - they use exisiting fastners in the dash.

I use the pro-fit bracket (formerly used with my full-install car kit) to support my pro-clip holder. The two made a very good combination for my 7290 in my Toyota Highlander. I'm waiting for the new 8700 holder to arrive.

They have brackets for most cars, including BMWs. Check this site and look for VSM (vehicle specific mounts). www.pro-fit-intl.com

Yes, I do get some GSM "buzz" over the radio, but you will probably find that anytime you put a Blackberry near the radio.

I have come across the new car holder from brodit.com

Brodit is the european version of proclip -

Active Holder for BlackBerry 8700c
A holder for power supply, connets to the vehicles cigarette lighter socket. The device has got the connector for charging on the side of the device. The active holder offers a firm fit, it is easy to put the device in the holder and then connect the charging cable to the device. Attach onto ProClip Mounting Platform.

I'm fortunate because my rusty ol' 4Runner has a nice empty dashboard section to the left of the wheel, below the vent. Thus, I use the swivel mount and just screw it directly to the dash. Nice and solid, positions my BB at the perfect view angle, and I don't have to worry about heating/cooling my BB excessively and blocking airflow.

Obviously, not all vehicles offer a convenient space, and I'm sure some don't want to "mar" their dash, but I've always felt vent-mounts are a Plan B alternative. ProClip offers a ton of different mounts - ProClip Mounts - none of these will work with your specific situation?

You're correct about the BMW mounts being available... they were not listed on the Smart Phone Depot site when I looked. I ordered the ProClip mount a few days ago, hopefully I'll be pleased with it, otherwise I'll try the Pro-Fit.
