Default The Classic Ringtone Thread

Please Login to Remove!

There isnt a special spot for that not-so-special sound. This should be a native option on every phone, but that classic style old-time ringer simply isnt.

For awhile, i am going to host some classic ringtones as mp3's that you can directly download from your phone. i only have the pearl so its all i know that works.
It would be nice to have a separate thread for the classic ringtones because they are so hard to find on the web. hopefully, someday this thread will be at the top of google search.

only one for now, more later. this one isnt quite as old-style as i want, but i will get more.
i will post the best ones in this first post-

**updated link** now longer ring with rhythm pause you may have to clear your browser's cache if the link doesnt play the updated version. the nice thing about this one is its LOUD.
https://publish.insightbb.com/personalfile/personalsite/sublime40/Classic.mp3
another, also nice, reminds me of cordless phones
https://publish.insightbb.com/personalfile/personalsite/sublime40/cordless.mp3
business or office type ringers
https://publish.insightbb.com/personalfile/personalsite/sublime40/office1.mp3
https://publish.insightbb.com/personalfile/personalsite/sublime40/office2.mp3

vintage style / classic ring type (louder, clearer version comming in about a week)
https://publish.insightbb.com/personalfile/personalsite/sublime40/vintage2.mp3
another, should be better
https://publish.insightbb.com/personalfile/personalsite/sublime40/vintage3.mp3
another shot, longer and louder. its too bad about the cover on the 8100, it really hampers the sound
https://publish.insightbb.com/personalfile/personalsite/sublime40/vintage4.mp3

this one would be good for a text notify. would also be a decent ringer
https://publish.insightbb.com/personalfile/personalsite/sublime40/notify.mp3
another, the t-mobile theme tone. also good for notification
https://publish.insightbb.com/personalfile/personalsite/sublime40/tmo2.mp3
the one and only 'you got mail'
https://publish.insightbb.com/personalfile/personalsite/sublime40/gotmail.mp3
you have voicemail
https://publish.insightbb.com/personalfile/personalsite/sublime40/voicemail.mp3
sort of like an AIM ding-dong
https://publish.insightbb.com/personalfile/personalsite/sublime40/ding.mp3

an alarm! 15 constant seconds of a bell.
https://publish.insightbb.com/personalfile/personalsite/sublime40/alarm.mp3

just for note- these ringers i have found around various websites, and a couple from threads here. ive cleaned them up using de-noise filters and ive maximized the volume. they have also been edited for longer ring duration and better pauses between rings. i dont want any credit for the ringers, but i have modified them.

Smile Classic Ringtone

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have never understood why Blackberry failed to put a "normal" ringtone on its newest business-oriented handhelds.

I tryed entering the file on my browser but it said it wasnt found. Then I tryed copying and paste but it didn't work either. I tryed it on my PC and worked perfectly. Am I doing something wrong on the pearl or what? How can I save the file from my PC? Thanks

sorry for those who are having trouble, i was able to directly enter the url into the "goto" box and it just popped up the music player with the ringer going. weird that some have to link it to a page..

im having a bit of a problem with my next ringer i want to post. this one i have been using for over a year on my vx9800, and its exactly like an old classic rotary-dial phone. its also special because i remember using an mp3 tool to max out the volume, this ringer is blaringly loud. in fact, i think its the one that sort of broke my 9800 speakers, as they have a constant crackle in them now.

my problem is the ringer in on the phone itself, not the memory card, and i lost my bitpim cable. if i cant find it by the end of the weekend ill just order up another off ebay, theyre only $5 shipped.

so get ready for it its the best ringer ive ever heard on a cell phone, i promise.

heres one that i came up with. i tried to preserve the quality best i could, but its not as good as it should be, or as good as the ringtone i need to get off my vx9800. its not nearly as clear as it needs to be, once i get that data cable i can post a much better sounding version, but for now this isnt too bad.

this one isnt as good as vintage2 posted above.

Hey I like it!
Question though, is there any way to shorten the delay between rings like on the first one? I really like the rhythm of the default tones (raytrace and classic).

hey, thank you! i was foolishly wondering why my phone didnt ring quite right, i thought it was a setting i had wrong on the phone.

i made a change, i made the ring hold a little longer and i added the pause you asked for. it sounds much much better now, let me know if theres anything else i should do to it. just delete the classic.mp3 from your phone and reload that first link i posted with your phones browser, its now an updated link

yes. just enter the url's in your 'go to' box in the blackberry's browser. it will pop up the media player and from there you can play and save it.

its obvious they do it on purpose. if they put decent normal ringers in there, not many people would go looking to spend money on new ringers.

i hear they say ringtone sales are about to outweigh music album sales. no wonder half of the sales pitch you get when signing a new contract is nothing but ringtone pushing.

I have a tmobile.mp3 ring that I like the sound of but it is not quite loud enough. Would you be able to clean it up and increase the volume of it too?

Thanks
