ok..well...i posted in the other forum earlier before i found this one...and i think you were the one who replied "winston"

but...the problem is that i am trying to get my files from my itunes to my BB
ive read that you could if they are in mp3 format and if you shorten the length of the song to fit the required size limit (which i did, i used 30sec)
but for some reason it wont let me download the file. i tried using that...coolservice website that i saw listed here, and yes its easy as 1 2 3 but if you dont have the right format you cant move past step2
so i was wondering if you could help or anyone out there. i am not totally technology illiterate, but i do understand some terms.

Do you know how large the files are? Are they under the limit allowed by coolservice?

ok...first off..im going to just reply here to the other message also that you left in the other forum for me.
(1) yes, i know that it is easy to do. and i know how to convert them to mp3 files. i am not that slow and...
(2) yes, they are within the limit that why i stated before that i had to shorten the files to approx 30seconds (which i believe is the limit) but...
my problem is...like i stated before is that i can not get them to go to my BB for some odd reason. and if you got this to work for you, could you please tell me how to get it to work for me?
I have read the directions, or should i say step-by-step directions (1 2 3 ) for using the coolservice website. yes..again..they are quite simple and straight forward and easy to follow...but how can i follow if i can not get passed step 1/2? and there my dear is where we have a problem.

Right click your song and click Get Info \ Options and adjust the song's

MM:SS.ms, so you can be very precise.

Now you use iTunes' built-in conversion tool. Right-click the song and
choose "Convert To AAC." The file will be copied and a duplicate track will
appear in iTunes... clipped to the length you set on the original song!

Send this to your phone using a web-based uploader or by USB or however you typically transfer ringtones. Don't forget to turn off Start and End times on the original song when you're done!

If your phone doesn't play AAC files, just adjust the iTunes Preferences \
Advanced \ Importing screen to MP3. Whatever you choose on this screen will
appear when you right-click a song and choose "Convert To..."

I've found this very easy to use, and then I upload through coolservice.dk.
Thank you for the helpful info! I've only been a BB user for less than a week and have alot to learn, but this is the coolest thing I have leanred yet!!

I did have to figure one thing out on my own though. It may have been said somewhere else but couldn't find it.

In order to stay under 200kb's on a 30 sec or less track I had to lower the MP3 Encoder kbps rate from 160kbps to 56kbps. This is done under "Edit, Preferences, Advanced, Importing, Setting, Custom"

Maybe this was a no brainer but it took me awhile to figure out so maybe it will help someone else.

Default Ringtones

It may not be what you are looking for, but you can get a few ringtones off of my site that I just started last night. I only have a few ringtones on there right now, but plan on putting a lot more when I get some free time. email me at [email address] to get the site because it will not let me post it on here because I have less than 10 posts.

Sorry when I asked how large the files were I was referring to the size of the file in kilobytes (kb) and not the length of it.

Could you please specify what steps 1 and 2 are for uploading to the coolservice site? Is the file being uploaded to the coolservice site? After it uploads does it give you the wap address to navigate to and the file number?

Sorry about that, here is the link to my webpage where you can get a few ringtones.

http://www.freewebs.com/bennett0731/

Right now I only have a few including:
Warren G - Regluate
George Strait - Cowboys Like US
Tom Petty - Last Dance
a few more, but there will be more to come.

Hope this helps someone, remember I am still new to this as well so if you don't like them, go easy on the comments.

Thanks!

I have a total of around 7000 ringtones. Each day I add more and more.

If anyone has problems encoding, send them to me via the link on the site along with what type of phone, and I would be more than happy to convert it for you.
