Default Is anyone running new OS 5.0.0.822 w/o issues? Feedback please

Please Login to Remove!

Is anyone successfully running the new OS 5.0.0.822 without issues? If so, which carrier are you using?
Successfully running the new OS v5.0.0.822 qualifies as running it for over 2 full days without any glitches.
Please give me your feedback and experiences. It will be greatly appreciated.
Was there a particular method you used to update to the new OS v5.0.0.822 ?
Please elaborate with details, if you would.
This OS update continues to be an ongoing issue, which is causing BB 8900 users great troubles daily.
There must be a common denominator among those running the new OS update without issue.
I'd like to find that denominator. I want to run this OS without my phone going haywire.
Thanks to all in advance.

I'm running .822 on my 9000. But I'm probably not the audience you are looking for.

I'm running the same version on my 8900 and haven't had ANY problems with any of my applications working.

To me, it is one of the better OS updates for the 8900

im having issues. i updated from .509 and restored my backup. however if im writing a sms or on bbm i will have to type blind, because i cant see what im typing.
that happens after rebooting as well. i can write one line with the "novelty" of seing what im writing, after more then a line it dissapears.
if i press enter however typed text will be sent also.
strange.

it only happens on bbm and sms. not for emails.
thinking about wiping my 8900 completely - wanna buy the 9780 but i guess it will take a little longer

i am running my 8900 on the latest os on t-mobile. it is the best os i have used so far no problems at all. UMA works flawlessly without even a hesitation.

i did do something different than usual when i updated this time. well first of all t-mobile automatically updates all my contacts on my account on their website so basically i wanted to start fresh without a back up file. so i followed the steps in the FAQ for a "nuked" blackberry. And then i used the mobile upload application in settings to restore my contacts. but i guess u could try the FAQ nuked steps and then load a back up file

Ringtones stopped working for many users myself included. I strongly advise you to stay put and wait for the next stable update.

My ringtones stopped working also but all I did was a battery pull and it worked again. I have quick pull app on my phone and it runs every morning just cuz the phone works better like that anyways

I found that sometimes if you edit the ring tone in normal it flashes but vib and ring gone, even using "try it". Reboot or battery pull fixes it, have reproduced it a few times.

I am running it and have noticed the following glitches:
- When taking many pictures in a row or switching between many apps quickly BB has shut down completely, requiring a battery pull to start up again. This has only happened twice.
- Speaker stopped working completely (no ringtones when a call came in and speakerphone had no sound). Battery pull fixed it.
Other than these it seems great.

Can't edit sound profiles. Since I activated BIS, my 8900 started running smoother (or maybe is just my enthusiasm). Not any major problems with it. Looking forward to a new version. cheers!

I've had 5.0.0.822 on my Curve 8900 for a while and was running OK mostly. But last week all of a sudden my ringtones/audio-alerts just stopped working. No audible alerts at all (no message tone, ringtone, alram, SMS alerts). Also noticed that when I play music or video, there is no sound till I switch to "Handset" output.

Since then I have wiped my device TWICE using BBSAK and re-installed the OS. Still no audible alerts. [On a side note, something strange: even after I wiped the BB, the "Smart-WiFi" app was still installed. Does that mean the BB did not get completely wiped?]

As you can imagine, this is rather frustrating since I rely on my BB even as my alarm clock :(

Anyone have thoughts on how to proceed now?

Thanks.
Fritz

Same here Fritzy,

My phone won't make a noise at all! This is FATAL! Tmo idiots told me the upgrade was secure. No big problems and that downgrade would fix anything. After prob occurred, they say, fatal error, can't downgrade, yes we knew, silly service guy gave you bad advice. so sorry, please call rim. Yes we support, but we don't support hard problems. If menus and battery pull won't help you then we're out! No, we have no idea how top downgrade. Un-bee-lee-vable.

Have you tried downgrading? It's my next step. I have bb MCP (master control program). It will allow you to store several os's but I'm not very sophisticated with it. I got it to do do 3rd party app b-ups. When I get home, it's my first try. Find 4.6.whatever that works, and try to downgrade.

It sounds from Tmo mixed messages that there are some things getting flashed that a downgrade won't un-flash. Sigh. Any help on here? I'll try posting top level. I'm desperate.

I had it on mine since about a week after it was first posted here. I never had any problems with it at all. I just today updated to .900 from Tmo using DM. Don't really know why mine was problem free.

Takes a while. I had to keep pausing and retartng. I finally downgraded last night. No info from anyone out there, no ownership from RIM, no ownership from tmo. What a horror show. Used bberry MCP and took a while, but got there. Lost my call logs, but not much else
