Default Best OS version for 9630?

Please Login to Remove!

I recently got a 9630 (Verizon) phone from eBay and although I can't use 3G on it with Rogers in Canada, I can use EDGE.

What is the best OS version for this device?

I loaded 9630 5.0.0.1600/5.0.0.975 on it, but it seems to struggle keeping a 3G connection and won't download anything from the App Store (Yes I do have a BB data plan).

Any thoughts?

I have a Sprint 9630 and I am using 5.0.0.1030 with no perceived connection problems. The only issue that annoys me is sometimes it take 5, 6 or 7 attempts to get BlueTooth enabled to connect my car headset.

The best OS is the one that works best for you. That is generally the one it shipped with, or the on it when you got it. I don't mean to be flip about it, but the Forum is full of upgrades not working as the user wishes or needs.

My general recommendation is to use the device as it is when you get it. Find out what it can and cannot do. In most cases, you will find that it isn't broken and doesn't need to be fixed.

How is the device getting a 3G connection? As you noted, it only works on EDGE. Has to be something else going on.

Sorry, I meant it was struggling to keep an EDGE connection, in that it drops to edge and back to EDGE all the time.

I downgraded the phone to version 4.7 to see if this will fix some of the issues. More than likely I got a screwed phone (The entire purchase was a fiasco eBay the wrong wayxxx8230; | Edmonton Tek).

More than likely I will end up purchasing a new phone from Rogers and not have to deal with this garbage.
