Default 9700 Bold .v. 8900 Javelin (Curve)

Hi -

Can anyone give me some bullet points on the logic of switching from an 8900 to a 9700 ? The BB website comparison tool does not reveal much and local mobile phone shops seem to lack sufficient technical expertise to know much difference between the two (I am in the UK). I have been generally happy with the 8900, save for some bad battery drain issues caused seemingly by the standard supplied pouch - and again now that the unit is over 1 yr old.

My main desires would be a BB that does what it does but also incorporates the best features of an iPhone as well (dream on...?!?)

Grateful for your help in advance.

Reasons:
-8900 Is Smaller
-Bold Is Heavy
-Bold Overheats A Lot

Surely you're not talking about the Bold 9700, right? It most definitely is light and have heard or seen nothing regarding overheating on this forum at all.

they are practically the same size.

Bold is heavier (compared tot he 8900), but are you complaining about the weight? For real? Don't ever get a CDMA blackberry then if you think the Bold 9700 is "heavy."

I've had no problems with it overheating. Nobody wants makes a phone that "overheats" just how nobody wants to make a condom that breaks everytime, not saying it NEVER EVER happens, but this overheating problem is well, a problem with a particular device and not made on purpose. It's not supposed to overheat, majority of them don't but that's not saying it's impossible to see this ever happen.

I just made the switch from 8900 to 9700 today. For some reason AT&T was allowing me to upgrade after only five months on my current contract, so I got a 9700 for free with a two-year contract extension.

9700 appears to be very solid with a nice finish, definitely a step up from the 8900. The 9700 is only 12 grams heavier than the 8900 (think twelve paper clips), and I've found the curvature on the back to be more comfortable when I'm holding the device in one hand compared to the squared sides of the 8900.

Thought the bold is supposed to be .5mm thicker, I found it fit a little looser in my Sena Ultraslim Pouch.

Keyboard will take a while to get used to, as I've been on the Curve 8900 and 8310 style for the last three years.

I also expect there's a much better chance that OS 6 will port over to the 9700 compared to the 8900 which has very little official carrier support of OS 5 at this time.

Overall I'm very happy with the 9700.
