I have been using the akron clips for the 7520 for a few weeks now. They are the bomb, I have tried two different windshield mounts and one seat rail mount and they are all the shizzle. I gave the windshiled mounts to my roughest employees and they havent been able to get them to fail yet. One took them on a rock climbing event in north carolina in his jeep. The only failure was a five foot airborne jump.

I recommend these to anyone who wants a stable dependable auto clip.

Dawg: Thanks for the update/info. I still shy away from window mounts/tentacled holders, though. The former because my truck just doesn't offer a good window spot; the latter because I'm an anal neat-freak...

Have you, or anyone else reading this, used one of those "pin and clip" deals? I believe Motorola offers one, as well as Krussell, that might work with BBs. Basically, a pin attaches to the back of the PDA and a clip that receives the pin attaches to your dash. I haven't tried one because: 1. I don't think the clipped BB sits at an "angle" on the dash, to make viewing easier; 2. I envision the BB rotating on the pin every time I make a turn, driving me nuts.

Thus, I'd like to hear from anyone that's tried/uses this method...

I stopped at the ARKON booth at CES. The only Blackberry holder he had seemed to be for the 72XX series. He didn't know much if anything about the 8700 ones and wanted to see my new toy. The 72XX Arkon unit would not work wtih the 8700- way too much "slop."

Overall, as best I can describe the style, IMHO the ARKON would have far more appeal to the off road, industrial, and public safety folks. The Proclip unit would appeal to the executive, family car, and soccer mom types.

I will be waiting for a Proclip.

this is what I use from case logic.....I have two that hang from the airconditioning vents....you can place just about anything in them. It is soft and will not scratch my berry, works great for sunglasses, loose change, lipgloss (yes lipgloss)...check it out, ...http://www.caselogic.com/automotive_...?modelid=57170

Nice suggestion, Jelly Bean. Do you find not being able to see the BB screen a problem? That's what I liked about my old 7290 Proclip: when someone called, I could determine if it was "important" without fumbling and taking my hands off the wheel...

Not fer nuthin, but that looks like a bag. lol

I got a generic phone holder for the car that works very well at Radio Shack. You can see the display and it holds the device nice and tight. the only drawback was that it was necessary to perminently afix it to the dash. Something that most alot of people are not apt to do. But it worked for me.

I just went to their Website for my Grand Cherokee and I saw the mount listed for it, just not a bracket for my 7130E.

Nope, can't see, have to lift it up to take a look...but I wouldn't be able to see it without leaning in even if it was mounted in clear view, you must all have good eyes..lol!
And yes, it's a "bag". Works for me.

while waiting to decide as to which one I will be getting, I am using a $5 item from the Auto store that attaches to the vent and it hold the 8700 via spring pressure with one midle top lip and 2 side lower lips. It holds it good but not a solid way. At lease I can see he screen well when a call comes in. One thing about teh 8700 the incoming call display is large enough to read on the fly.

I e-mailed the ProClip folks today. They advised that the clip for the 8700s should be out around the end of January. YMMV

I just got my Arkon holder in. It is the Gooseneck model that attaches to the seat rail. It's a near perfect fit for the 8700. I used just a couple of soft rubber inserts at the top and bottom and it is now perfect. The mount was very easy to install. One bolt is all it takes to secure. It is the pefect solution for any car. It would not be ideal for an SUV or truck as the seats sit up much higher. Now I take the 8700 off my belt clip and it fits right next to the shifter. Perfect for viewing incoming calls and emails. This is a very sturdy setup and looks good too.

It seems like it is so hard to find a decent car holder!

Just wanted to quickly post something I found – I went to CES, and in the North Hall of the LV Convention Center was a REALLY neat car holder… I’ve never seen anything like it before.

It’s called Lobster Mount – or something along the lines of that… It is a Californian company and the product is manufactured in the US.

It has a number of arms and bolts to perfectly customize it to your device… It comes with a special tool that allows you to adjust all the arms… the great thing about it is you adjust it once and just like the George Forman grill… You set it, and forget it! (Yea I know that was a cheesy one)

The side arms are slanted so that you slide your device in for a strong hold yet you can still easily pull it out at the right angle. It is difficult to explain, I will try to dig up the marketing collateral I picked up from their booth.

As I remember it, the SRP was expensive, I think it was around $60-$80, but the thing was built like a rock. I can’t remember if it was shipping yet, but once I find the info I will post it and I certainly will be ordering one for myself.

And as an FYI, I have no affiliation with this company – Although I wish I did!
