Default "ABC" icon.....irritating!!!

Please Login to Remove!

at times when i need to use multitap to enter text, i switch it over from sure type. but when i've sent the msg and go to my home screen, the darn "ABC" icon is stuck on the top right hand corner of my home screen. then i gotta go into a compose screen to change the input type to suretype!

does anyone else have this problem. pls tell me there's an easy solution to this!

to my knowledge, thats just the way it is. my boss ran into this when trying to lock the handset from a non-home screen (*).

doesn't make sense to me, cuz' with the TMO theme.......the "ABC" literally covers the signal strength meter!

I have run into same problem and it can be difficult to get it to go away. Also, I get a little symbol so tiny I can't quite make it out above the antenna signal strength and I have no idea what it means or how to make it go away. Another problem is when I dial a call I see a message briefly displayed that says: Call Forward Conditional Does anyone know why?

Actually, I landed in Burbank this evening and that icon appeared on mine as well. I wonder if something is going on with the network -- perhaps they're pushing an update to us.

Not a network thing... my 7100 is fine... only time i get ABC in upper right corner is when I leave it on and exit to the main menu... and the only way to remove (to my knowledge) go into a an app where you can add/edit text and remove the ABC.

Well, that little symbol (looks like a rectangle with a half-circle sitting on it) is still there this morning. It comes and goes with the signal (no service, no icon).

This is a reminder that you have call forwarding enabled in phone: options: call forwarding. If you turn call forwarding off, you should not get the message.

The Call Forwarding thing is normal. Happens on my Nokia 6230, my Blackberry 7280 and all other phones. As someone posted, it just tells you that you have forwarding to voicemail on so if someone calls you while you're on this call and you don't pick up, it'll go to VM. If you turn it off, you won't get that message but you won't get VM either

My phone has just started to do the same thing with the ABC when I lock the phone. Maybe an update was pushed to the phone- I haven't been doing anything different.

you sure you didn't simply try to lock it with the * key in a text screen (email, phone, etc)? just go into one of those screens and press and hold the * until the ABC icon goes away.

this problem seems to happen kind of randomly...not just within certain apps...I've been at the menu screen, and the ABC just appears at the top, seems like this must be some kind of bug where occasionally the asterisk button switches the type style rather than the key lock
