Is v4.2.0.67 the latest software for unbranded 8100? I bought the phone unlocked. My carrier is tmobil? thanks.

Doesn't matter. All of the handheld software is written by RIM and tested and released by the carriers You can use any "version" as they are all compatible with any version of the 8100.

Check the FAQ, you can use any carriers OS on an BB, as long as the model number coincides

Why don't you try OS 4.5.0?
TIM Italy has release A4.5.0.52 for 8100 ...
(it's not beta, but release version, the link from blackberry website)

check it from Blackberry TIM Italy download site.
