Default OS: 9700 6.0.0.2391/6.0.0.543 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.2391 (All Languages)

Package Version: 6.0.0.2391
Consisting of:
Applications: 6.0.0.534
Software Platform: 6.6.0.200

File name: 9700AllLang_PBr6.0.0_rel2391_PL6.6.0.200_A6.0.0.53 4_Bell_Mobility_Inc.exe
File size: 176.47MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download Software Here

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 9700:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Downloaded and installing now. Will test and report. Was using 6.0.0.1965/6.0.0.461 on Bold 9700, which was 'ok' overall. I live in an area of marginal reception, and have noticed over the past several years that some release will hop unnecessarily across services (GSM, EDGE, 3G, etc). .461 was reasonably good about not doing this, but not the best I've had installed.

I am having troubles with this release;

I find that after a couple of days the browser will stop working. I will try to load it and nothing happens, or I will try to switch to it (ALT-Back) and everything will just freeze (it will just stay on the "switch application" screen until I will switch back to something like the home screen). The only way to resolve this and get it back to normal is if I do a battery pull.

Anyone else having these issues? In the last 9700 v6 release I was not having this issue at all.

Also, not sure if it matters or not but I turn off my phone daily while at work..

I'm not running W7, but what it sounds like is navigate to your apploader folder, then look for another folder (not button) called "compatibility files". The vendor.xml file will be in there.

99% of the time you don't even need to find or delete it in Windows 7.

I've tried to install os 6.0 three times, and my 9700 continues to freeze at the "Uploading RAM Image" step. I'm still using desktop v5...is that a problem?

Thanks, Jim

Shouldn't even use the desktop manager to upgrade your OS. Follow the directions exactly as they are stated at the top of this thread and use loader.exe to do the update.

The last time I attempted to install 6.0 I followed the instructions at the top of this thread, and my 9700 continues to freeze at the "Uploading RAM Image" step.

Just downloaded and installed this version, so far its seems to have less font options than .448, but its faster, I realised that there is more space for nu applications, something u don't get with .448!, I think ama enjoy this one all the same!

Thumbs down Re: Latest 9700 software - 6.0.0.534

this software update is cool @ first!
it generally slows down the phone takes up way too much space and a WASTE of time!
since i upgraded my screen blanks off! literally turns white! you've got to leave it for a min or two and then it will come back normal!

I think blackberry phones on a WHOLE is a waste of time! these phones need to be changed on a yearly basis! honestly i dont know anyone who has had the same blackberry for more than a year! why???? cause something always goes wrong with it! mean their trackpad or scroll bad always goes bad! software updates are shitty!

I SWEAR! i dont know anyone that has a blackerry that has passed a year and has not had some soft of repair done to it! if all my friends weren't on bbm, honestly i would def change phones! blackberry is a waste of time phone!
