Angry Ordered my 3rd Rogers Bold Replacement

Please Login to Remove!

I do not know about other Rogers Wireless customers and their Bolds, but I am have constant trouble with the software issue, I am running the current software that Rogers recomends 4.6.0.1.62 and the clock icon constantly is running on the screen and draining a full battery in under 45 minutes. My available free memory is at 49Mb.
The only 3rd party apps that i have installed are
Weather Eye
Nutsie
Xberry
Gmail
G-sync

I would do a complete wipe on the device reload the OS and then 2 days later the clock Icon pops up and make the phone warmer then usuall and then draind the battery, I called Rogers and they are sending me my 3rd phone since September.

Has anyone else have these same issues??

Disclaimer: I read this on another site. My Bold does not have any problems.

While most of the Bolds experiencing fast battery discharge and heated batteries either return their units, exchange them for another, etc.; and often find their replacement units do the same thing.

Why does the battery get hot? It is discharging faster than normal.

Why is my battery life so short? It is discharging faster than normal.

Why does the battery get hot and battery life so short? SOMETHING (perhaps the OS, perhaps a 3rd Party Application) is causing the device to be constantly working, continuously, instead of at "normal" intervals. It may be the 'usual' reasons: radio trying to maintain 3G signal, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, etc.

Or it may be 3rd Party applications. Google Maps, when not exited properly, constantly is in contact with cell towers/satellites mapping your current location. Some 3rd party apps such as Find-It, update your location every 30 seconds. Any number of 3rd party applications, such as IM apps, news apps etc., may be trying to contact servers to get updates but the APN settings are wrong; so the app cannot update properly and is trying over and over again to contact the server. Some people have offline content turned on for their browser, causing more activity and traffic. Others have buddy-locator type apps running constantly. More others have corrupted service books and messages are trying to constantly be re-sent (not as big a problem any more from what I understand, there is a max amount of tries now).

While it's easy to blame the hardware (and I am not saying that it is not to blame), it may also be software or th OS.

Again, this is a summary from a number of posts in another forum. I don't speak from experience.

That said, after an OS install, I would run with as few 3rd party apps as I possibly can, slowly adding a new app every couple of days until I find a possible culprit. Possibly remove that culprit temporarily to see if the situation improves, and so on.

Then I would do as a previous poster suggests. Wipe device and begin adding apps one by one, allowing for sufficient time between each installation to see if the device behaves as your previous experiences are described. I would give it a day between each install as this way, it will be quite clear which of the third party apps are bugged.

My suspicion is, it's one of those apps you have installed. You may also want to verify with each vendor/developer that the apps you have are certified for the 4.6 OS on the Bold.

It's strange...

I got my Rogers Bold on August 23rd and it's working perfectly since then.

Flawlessly. A perfect Blackberry.

I did a hand held wipe and restored it back to rogers 4.6.0.162 and it has been working perfectly fine, but rogers has already shipped out the replacement, should i change it ot keep the one I have, I have 30 days to return the older one, if not they will charge my account $200 for the new one. For that price I should just keep it and sell it, what do you think I should do?

Keep it, get it unlocked, and sell it.

I would also recommend to upgrade the OS to 185 or 190.
