Default Help with whether to buy the 7130e

Please Login to Remove!

I still use a Palm Pilot, a "regular: small cellphone, am a Mac g4 user, and didn't buy the Treo 650 cuz it's big.

Will the 7130 fit in my pocket so I don't have to wear it on my belt?

Any issues with Mac's?

Thanks

I don't recommend putting the 7130 in your pocket for a few reasons:

1. BBs have a unique sleep feature that requires a case with a small magnet. When in the holster/case it sleeps.
2. The screen could easily scratch
3. The keys sould be accidently pressed, although you could lock the keypad.

I agree with whsbuss's comments. It's not like a flip phone. Also, you need pretty good size pockets.. it's not tiny like the flip phones other family members have.

I agree with the above...however, even though my blackberry lives 99% of the time on my hip, it really isn't that bulky to put in your front pants pocket when going "out" for the evening.

On the RIM website they sell a leather pouch that does not have a clip on it which is perfect for a pocket. It comes in several colors. I wish they made it for the 7100i! That would be the best 'pocket carry' solution.

I just got the 7130, I think I might get more life out of my battery if I used the case and it went to sleep, but I do put it in my pocket. I just make sure I don't put coins, keys or anything to share that pocket and I lock the keyboard. I don't feel it's much more than my last cell phone a lgvx6000. But I do have to say I'm still worried about the screen. I might have to look into the leather pouch that Moose talked about.

Well, I decided to try one out myself re: mac support, It's still quite a leap from any phone I've owned re: the learning curve but so far I'm quite impressed

Hi there!

I just got a 7130e and I use it with my beloved Mac PowerBook. I picked up PocketMac and it works perfectly. Just need to hack the tethered modem software now.

Alright well I have had a palm pilot and a cell phone (yes two items quite a load) since the 9th grade. Finally yesterday I took the leap and dumped the palm and cell and bought the 7130e. WOW! What a machine. I am in love. I uploaded all my data from palm desktop to ical and the address book in the mac computer. I have a powerbook G4. Have no problems. I love it. I also keep it in my pocket but with nothing else. Due to the fact I am used to keeping a palm in my left pants pocket it feels natural. I wish rimm made a plastic holster for the hip like they make for the 7250. Alsa they don't. I would recommend it to anyone even with a mac. Just get pocketmac. Make sure you are running well I have heard 10.3 OS. I run tiger so I can't comment on that low. It interfaces with tiger great though. I have named it the crackberry because of the addiction I now have. If you have any questions just gimme a shout and my pin is 300E88E4.

Check with VZW tech support. They may have a mac-compatible VZaccess software.

i know i had to do it out of contract. When I went into the store though and they found out i was also signing up for the ulimited data plan for $50 a month they dropped $100 so I only paid $333. Not bad.

What do you think of it so far? I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not I should give up my 7250 for it....
