Default Berry 411 version 3.0 beta

Please Login to Remove!

A new beta version of Berry 411 is available. This version adds Berry 411 searches to the RIM address book application. I'm also hoping it will help with the 8700 and AskMeNow compatability that some users have reported. If you fall in the latter category, or just like to be on the bleeding edge, please give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Note: this version requires version 4.0 of the Blackberry OS.

Some users report a "Class Cast" exception in Berry411 after installing AskMeNow.

Suggestion:

For reverse lookup, when listing a contact who has multiple phone numbers, instead of listing just the number, also list what the number is (Home, Work, etc...).

Wink Address book entries with multiple addresses do not truncate labels ...

There seems to be an issue with addressbook entries that have both Home and Work addresses saved. The application displays a choice of "Home: ..." or "Work: ..." for submission to driving directions or the Berry411 "Other" address field. However, the string that is submitted to Google Local or the Berry 411 app keeps the "Work: " or "Home: " prefix and so cannot be resolved.

I hope that makes more sense than my previous post.

Wierd, but when I look at the "about" screen, it says the following:

Blackberry version 2.63. You are running the most recent version.

Did I miss something. I put the link, http://thebogles.com/beta/berry411.jad, in my BBbrowser and installed. this is what I got. I see no difference in the platform from the older version

My device says the same 2.63 but in Options xxx8211; Advanced Options xxx8211; Applications xxx8211; Berry411 says 3.0.

Try deleting the Berry411 2.63 app before you install the 3.0 beta.

There is encouraging news on the compatibility front. I have confirmed reports of 8700r users who have been able to successfully use the new version who couldn't use before.

By the way, for this beta release I might not have updated every occurance of the revision number, so don't worry about too much about that as long as the functionality is right.

Regarding Mark Hutchison's bug: I haven't been able to reproduce that behavior but there are issues for entries with both home and work addresses so I'm working on that.

This isn't exactly relevant to the Beta, but I just wanted to say thanks for developing, maintaining and updating Berry411! It's an amazing piece of software and I'm incredibly grateful that you offer it for free!

Thanks!

Stupid question. Why does this version work with BB 4.0 but not 4.1? I have Berry411 v. 2.63.
