you NEED a blackberry data plan to get blackberry services.
the data plan IS the services.
without a data plan you wont get email, use BBM, MSN or anything else BB services related.

Default wrong!

you are wrong man ... see this article on how you can access blackberry services without data plan ..

cisco.com/en/US/solutions/collateral/ns340/ns394/ns348/ns772/networking_solution_solution_overview0900aecd806f4 3ca.pdf

it is clearly shown that it is possible to use all blackberry services with WIFI connection only WITH NO DATA PLAN. only u have to connect to blackberry infrastructure through some port ...

This is accomplished by
establishing an SSL connection via port 443 to the BlackBerry Infrastructure.

"The page you have requested cannot be found"

Trust me, you can't do it.
And I'm not a man.

I did put www before it, it doesnt exist on cisco.
I have found an article that mention SSL 443, but it states:
allows BlackBerry smartphone users with qualifying data
plans to access BlackBerry data services using a wireless network, a Wi-Fi® network, or both
networks simultaneously.

NOT without a data plan, but WITH a data plan.
You CANNOT access blackberry services WITHOUT a data plan.

And this is the article incase you doubt me:

It means having the wi-fi box checked, but the mobile network box unchecked.
you still NEED the data plan to make it work!

This is why I don't participate in threads where people start with "I don't I have a data plan".

Two types of threads I avoid:

- I don't have a data plan
- Someone stole my theme (drama)

Firstly, a data plan gives you service books.
These service books allow access to Blackberry services.
When connected to wi-fi only (with mobile network unchecked BUT data services: ON) it still connects to BIS through wi-fi.
This is the way a blackberry works.
Wi-fi on blackberries, and connecting to blackberry services, is so you can use the wi-fi instead of your data plan MB's incase you are on a pay per use, or low MB plan.
It is also a faster connection for using apps and browsing the internet.

Thats why.

You basically didnt read the article correctly.
