i just bought a used 6210 blackberry from a private seller and got a new sim card with rogers. I just activivated the sim card, got my number, and activated my pay as you go service. I tried to place a phone call and it says Emergency calls only" and there is a "SOS" where its supposed to say GSM on the right hand of the screen beside the battery indicator? I cant figure out whats wrong. After i got the phone from the guy i came home and install 4.0 software could that be the problem? if so how do i uninstal it and go back.

Is the Blackberry from another provider? If so, its possible that its locked to that provider.

Are you certain? Unlocked seems to be a selling ploy of sorts these days especially on eBay. I only ask as there is really only one notable source for BlackBerry unlocking Bongo Wireless Voice/Data/PIN www.bongowireless.com and it doesn't come cheap either. Can't say much but sure sounds locked to me.

that cant be the problem because the person i bought it from used Rogers as well and i changed his rogers sim card and bought a new rogers simcard for myself. I have no idea what to do, i might just go to rogers ask them if they would know anything.

Has the previous users PIN and IMEI been released?

i have no idea, but maybe thats the problem, ive never owned a blackberry before so i have no idea what the PIN is and what IMEI means.

But if the previous owner used rogers then i get a rogers simcard shouldnt that be ok even if the blackberry is still locked (incase it is)

yah you shouldnt have a problem, they cant lock a device to one ism crad but to a provider. make sure you have the sim card insterted right, go to your options and then sim card, check to see what sais there.also you can type in MEPD on that screen and you will see undear netwrok if it says active it is locked, but like you said that shouldnt matter anyway.
