Is the whole point of the TomTom traffic subscription and other Plus Services to get the data dollars? I would think that is TomTom's strategy and hence why no BB link. Everyone appears to be jumping down on RIM for this, but I think it is more of a TomTom related issue.

Not following your logic lcater. If you were to get tomtom traffic - you have to pay tomtom for that service. PLUS, you'd have to have a data plan for your phone provider. So - given we got two pieces of the puzzle, the last and crucial key is for the tomtom and the blackberry to connect and pass the data between each other. This is NOT allowed due to the blackberry.

Weak link = blackberry.

Ah okay my miss. Not understanding how TomTom works. In Canada the Plus services are not readily available as they have not linked in the Traffic. So the plus is less of a plus for me. What I'm torn on is I am about 90% complete in having a Panasonic Toughbook solution for Nav. Yes it's big and bulky buy it's a great screen for seeing off, and it's a touchscreen as well. I do like the packaging of the TomTom510 with it's ipod integration. A nice package.
Thanks

I just got my tomtom 510 yesterday and I purchased this model so I can hook into the traffic routing thing. I now see that I wasted my money because this will not work.

Has there been any updates or work arounds on this. Is there any other way to connect to get the traffic?

there is actually a reason that RIM devices can not pair with Tom Tom. Here it is, and its logical.

the origin of blackberry is as a business/government tool, right? (good, glad we established that).

what business/government agency wants YOU, the employee, to be able to wirelessly transmit data? not many that i am aware of...because in that manner, if you are on the BES, your transmissions via blue tooth can not be tracked as they would be when the device is teatherd or over the network (i may be a little wrong there...but it makes sense at least).

now that there is a large consumer market outside of those primary markets, I think it should be a default option to be turned off via the BES of each individual company/gvt agency as they see fit...but apparently RIM does not yet agree with me!

regardless, there is no defeat. RIM Blue Tooth WILL NOT transmit data.

This really stinks-- One of the reasons I purchased the tomtom over cheaper GPS's was because it had the traffice feature which I guess does not work.

Did you manage to get voice commands out of the wayfarer software. I have it installed and linked to a Parrott CK350 phone/GPS Thesoftware runs fine apart from lack of voice

With your pairing of the 8703 and tomtom, does BB allow more than 1 bluetooth enabled device since I cannot get tomtom to recognize bb.

Default tt910 paired with 8100

hi debra.....i noticed your partial success in pairing these two devices. I have the new 7130e blackberry and it has bluetooth functionality. My blackberry sees the TT910 as a bluetooth connection but the TT910 does not recongize the blackberry......can you share with me what you did to pair them

thanks
Dale

I thought I should post even though I have TT-ONE and an 8800, neither are int he subject line.

I recently plugged my TT-ONE into my pc to sync over some POIs. When I did that the TomTom Home software downloaded a new "Phone Update". After downloading this update I was able to connect my 8800 to my TT-ONE. Now I get traffic updates, etc.

Just FYI.

Before the update I was not able to use either my 8800 or my old 8700 with the TT-ONE

If you use Cingular, please reply with your manual settings on the TomTom.
I cannot get it to work using known settings.

Doug

I just went through the connection wizard. Be sure to click on the "Cingular Media Works" link when asked what carrier. I assume TomTom meant MediaNet but I'm not picky.

dlbrock,

***again on a BB8800 and TomTomONE

I just plugged it in one day and it uploaded something called a "Phone Update"

I reconnected it through the set-up today to refresh my memory..

Tap map screen> ">"(next screen arrow) > Connect to Phone>

Made 8800BB "visible" then Yes
Confirmed connection: Yes
Do you want to use Data connection: Yes
TomTom Plus: Yes
If asked for password type "0000" complete
Select you Phone Model: Other
Select your Country: United States
Select your Provider: Cingular Wireless (medi... can't see the rest of it
WAIT.....

At some point when I first set it up it asked my for my Plus account login information. You can do this online or via your TomTom Home software. I never gave a credit card or anything. I have access to traffic updates. I remember reading somewhere that US gets that for free.

Any other questions fire away.

I am using version 6.524 for the TomTom Firmware. Will update to 6.560 on Thursday when I return home. Everything else is good so that must be the issue. Thanks for your assistance!
