Default Push applications from bes 5.02 delay of over 24 hours

Please Login to Remove!

hi

i have a bes 5.02 server running on windows 2008r2 with sql 2008r2

everything works fine

i have several apps that i push out and i wanted to push out a new application and remove another.

i configured the application to be pushed out on Friday at about 2pm and assigned it to the device bb9700 running os 5 (mine) and nothing happened, on Saturday at 2:30pm i noticed my blackberry resetting itself and when it came back up the application i watned to remove was gone and the new application was present, result.

i checked the distribution settings which is set to push out all day every day and system throttling is disabled (as it does not seem to be necessary)

yesterday i pushed out the same application to 4 other devices but nothing has been installed yet and nothing shows up in the deployment jobs/tasks.

how can i check that these applications are actually going to be pushed out if they do not show up there and why would it wait up to 24 hours? previously applications woudl be pushed out within the hour and or at least had the job showing up pretty much immediately

many thanks

If your application has passed all the tests it will appear under

"Manage deployment job tasks"

within some minutes.

By default, the task is started 15 minutes after it is scheduled. You can change this setting under

"Specify job schedule settings"

If the application push task doesn't appear at all under "Manage deployment job tasks", there is a resolution problem, which you can check under

User > Manage User > View User > View resolved applications > Other configured applications

For any application listed there, click the "Eye" icon and you will find the reason, why it will not deploy (e.g. missing dependent modules, device type not supported etc.)

I am afraid there is nothing in the deployment job tasks and it is also not listed under view resolved or other resolved applications.

the application deployed to my bberry on Saturday afternoon is listed though, it is now almost 24 hours later so perhaps they will start appearing soon.

It should not take more than some minutes. How have you assigned the the software config to the users? Directly or via group?

How have you configured the applications policies, required or optional. Have you disallowed all other apps?

i assign them directly to the user, I used to have 1 other required application which i have now set to disallowed (and it uninstalled it) and made the new app a required app (and it installed it nearly 24 hours later)

other applications are optional and i have only deployed to my blackberry, users are allowed to install their own 3rd party applications.

in the past applications used to install within the hour to my blackberry.

apart from those 2 locations are there any log files where i can see what is going on? and if so what do i look for

If the Applications doesn't appear in the Resolved Applications, it will not create a job/task. You can have a look at the policy log, but I am not sure if you would see anything.

this morning I rebooted the bes server (also had to apply some ms updates) and now the appliation is showing in the resolved application tab for those 4 users so i think we are getting somewhere.

wondering whether there would have been a particular service which i could have restarted to obtain the same result

another update, so i have deployed the same application to 5 more users and guess what, same issue, nothing showing up in the job (tasks) section and they do not show as resolved. i am running 5.0.2 mr2 and perhaps this is the issue? KB23803-Jobs and Tasks are not being reconciled by the BlackBerry Administration Service.

should i install mr4 or is that for exchange 2010 environments only (we are on exchange 2007)

MR4 is also containing the fixes from MR3, MR2 and MR1. You can check in the release notes, if the issue is fixed.

MR4 is fixing a particular problem with Exchange2010, but you can also apply it if you are on Exchange 2007.

Are you running multiple BAS instances in a BAS pool? If not, the KB doesn't apply to you.
