Default Text messaging on 9700

You know how in BBM there is a D or R (D = delivered and R = Read) when messages are sent. Can this be also done for text messaging? anyone know

D yes, if you have delivery reports on [though this is a carrier thing, not all of them allow it]

Yes, you can. There is a confirm delivery option somewhere in options, but please know that this is very unreliable and should not be considered, at any time, accurate.

the SMS protocol is very, very complex, and carriers often dont support all of its features, let alone delivery confirmation. more often than not, the delivery confirmation you get, is when the message is delivered to the other carrier's sms routing centre - not the other persons phone. (as if you were on ATT and messaging somebody on Tmobile)

and dont even get me started on CDMA + SMS messages.

The delivery system used for SMS messages disconnects once the item is delivered. There is no way for it to give a "read" confirmation, even with a 3rd party application.

REquest read only works for MMS, not SMS.
