Exclamation 8830 World Edition

Please Login to Remove!

I'm a new BlackBerry owner, been using LG's for who knows how long but I decided to try out the 8830 World Edition. I know it's an older model but I had a stupidly good deal on a brand new one, so yeah. Anywho. I've seen a few posts about this but I have a couple of questions if anyone is willing to give me some advice. The volume on this is so quiet that it's scary, I don't know if a sonic microphone would even hear this thing ringing. Now, under the Profiles, I don't have a Loud + Vibrate like I'm seeing on some posts, does this phone just not have the option? And sometimes, when my phone is receiving a call, it only vibrates. Is there some way to quiet the ring that I'm doing accidentally which is making it vibrate only? I'm missing a lot of calls this way. Hopefully I can find some people who can give me a hand with this. Thanks!

Yep, that was an issue that many people reported with the 8830.

No, it doesn't have that option. Simultaneous vibe+ring was introduced with later versions of the BlackBerry OS which are not available for the 8830.

Is the device in its holster or case when this happens? There's different profile settings for "In-Holster" vs. "Out-of-Holster".

I'm assuming the holster means in it's case? No, I didn't get one when I purchased the phone, so I had to buy one separately which isn't here yet. It's just sitting in my shirt pocket. (How does it know when it's in the holster?)

Edit: I realized something, after trying it out, it's a vibrate, then a short pause, then a little bit of ringing, then a vibrate, then the call is finished if I don't answer. I feel like such a noob having to test all this out on a new cell phone. I'm so used to my EnV2.

No holster for me yet. Another question though, is Profiles the only way to put the BB on a vibrate-mode? Because there was a point in time where it wouldn't make any noise for text messages, and then it finally worked again. Not sure if that's something I did or not, but I've got it set for Tone + Vibrate under Profiles.

Sorry for all the stupid questions, I've said it before, I've never used a BB before. :P Trying to figure it all out.
