Question "K" key no longer locking keyboard

Please Login to Remove!

The "K" key on my 7290 (OS v4.0.0.219) no longer acts as a shortcut key to lock the keyboard.

It worked wonderfully up untill a couple of days ago. The key itself works fine ( i can type as many Ks as I'd like), but at the home screen, it will not lock the unit.

I didn't realize how accustomed to that convenient shortcut until i lost the ability.

The CAPS lock is not on, and I'm not using any 3rd-party software that uses or hacks the OS to suit its needs (where i may have re-assigned the key unknowingly).

I know the key is still responding. If i hold the key down long enough, it asks if I want to assign a speed-dial number to the letter.

I have powered off, done the three-finger salute restart, and still bupkiss. I am not going to re-initialize the device - yet.

Any thoughts?

TIA.

You have to go to options on the phone and tell it to not dial from home screen. I just noticed mine was not working as well after I upgraded to 4.0.2 so that setting obviously didn't get restored.

Thanks for the quick reply. Darn it, but i've got it set as you suggest.

I've got it set to NOT dial from homescreen...i even set it TO dial, saved the changes, then reset it to NOT dial and saved changes - but nada.

Any other thoughts?

Default Quick followup and resolution

So this problem again reared it's ugly head. I believe i have isolated the problem, but unsure why it occurs. I believe the issue is either with Dope Wars, or how the BB was handling the app when i used it.

For the benefit of someone who may experience the same problem, here's what i've uncovered. The following is how i've reproduced the problem, and resolved it:

1. Play dope wars
2. have CAPS LOCK engaged so you can use the number pad properly
3. quit dope wars when done
4. it's possible that some icons (likly the options icon) has disappeared from the homescreen
5. show all icons (if you hide most like me)
6. try and select options
7. the unit will kick into some serious JVM error and reset
8. voila - when the app comes back online, everything should work like it's supposed to - at least the "k" key

dooxer.
