Default Profile reset issue?

Please Login to Remove!

I've found several times that I've had profiles reset to default despite having properly changed them (and had them working for weeks). Has any one else experienced this? Running 4.6.1.231 - ATT build.

nah, have not had that happen, never heard of on any bb either. sorry to hear that, that definitely blows big time.

do a back through BBDM, reload the OS or wipe the OS and just reload the profile setting through backup and restore. DO NOT restore the whole thing, if some setting is corrupt during the previous OS, even if you reload the entire OS or upgrade OS, once you restore the whole thing, the new OS will be corrupted as well.

On my new 8900 I have had my custom profile disappear and had to recreate it from scratch. I thought maybe I had somehow deleted it inadvertently. Maybe not if others have had profile problems?

man... that is pretty frustrating, given bb profile setting is beyond complicated and lengthy. although on the storm, there is not nearly as much setting at all compare to any other OS.

I'm on my third blackberry and probably close to 3 times that many OS rev's, if not more. I've only had one profiles issue (though not the issue here) and it had to do with a third-party app (I bet many know what I'm talking about). Anyway, I suspect an application that uses profiles is the culprit. Not a clue how or why. But I'd be curious what the OP finds if he were to look at what he has and to some experimental removals to see what happens.

I am having this same issue as well, and I have just about come to the conclusion that it is an application or several apps that caused this to happen. The two times it has happened to me were immediately after installing 2 sep. apps that used the profile settings.

I would like to test out my theory, but the darn thing is so time consuming to go in and set each profile like I want it. This time at least I am going to write down what the settings and tones were to make it easier next time.

I think the WSJ Blackberry app did it to me...

The wsj reader is the app I was referring to in my post above.

My experience was that initially the app messed up the profiles database in a way that caused backup to fail on the profiles database. After the app was fixed, all was well, except profiles would somehow get reset to default when you deleted the app.

That was my experience. And it has been a long time since I used the wsj reader and maybe that problem with resetting profiles upon deleting the app has been fixed.
I know it's a time consuming matter to trouble shoot. But focusing on third party app's is the right idea.

That describes my experience.

1. I set up the WSJ app, but accidentally enabled the Asian version, which is not what I wanted. I couldn't figure out how to reconfigure it, so....

2. I deleted the WSJ app, then re-installed it.

3. Then I noticed my Profile info had disappeared.

PS: Since I doubt that the WSJ BB app programmers troll this site, we ought to tell them.
