Default SMSs all from/to one recipient

Please Login to Remove!

Just upgraded to 9700 from an old Bold with the Desktop Manager migration and all works except for SMS. All incoming SMS are being binned as coming from one recipient(now me but previously the first one who texted me).

If I reply or try to start from scratch in sending an SMS to a new recipient from the address book, I am simply dumped back into the chat with myself and then can only seem to send to myself.

The bubble display of messages is new to me with this version - am I missing something obvious ?

This is called Threaded SMS. It gets mixed reviews.

Basically, it keeps all messages to and from the same person in a thread and when composing a new message to someone, it will create a new thread or add to existing thread with that recipient.

Understand the concept of threaded SMS - problem is that the message thread doesn't show a new contact or start a new thread when a new SMS is received from someone new - all messages from all recipients appear under the same (first) contact/thread. This is also the only contact I can send an SMS to.

If I use the address book to start sending an SMS to a new contact, I can select the contact but when I press OK I get binned back into the same old message thread and the resulting text will only go to the same one recipient...

I'd suggest deleting all the SMS conversations and starting over fresh. That, or you know, a good ol' battery pull.

In a word, no. Threaded SMS was/is one of the most touted features of OS5.
