Default Capture Video from You Tube, Google Video Etc

Please Login to Remove!

OK...

I know I've seen how to do this SOMEWHERE on BBForum but I've searched in vain for 15 minutes now.

Is there a free program out there (or atleast a cheap one?) That I can use to capture video's off of You Tube or Google Video and save them to my computer? (i.e. capturing streaming video saved permanently to my computer?)

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks!!

Save YouTube Videos and download YouTube videos with YouTubeX
put it in the youtube link and click "get video" and then "download"
change the file extension to .flv

There are many sites that offer this service, for free.

Also, after download you can use the BlackBerry Video Generator program [$15] to convert the YouTube FLV files to Pearl format. I do that with many music videos.

Insert "BBVG" in the search box for my review of BBVG and links to download sites for YouTube.

Also, here they are, the ones I use:

Well BBVG uses mencoder and that's a free program. But BBVG provided a user interface to make the conversion process "two clicks."

But when I tried mencoder to covert FLV files, I could not get it to work. So for me, $15 for BBVG was worth it so I did not have to spend time figuring out what I was doing wrong.

But yeah, give mencoder a try because I can't say that BBVG had coding that let it also convert FLV files.

I've used this converter before. Just put the link in and it will automatically get the flv from the video and convert it to a number of formats for you to download. Then you can use Blackberry Video Converter, which is free, to convert to blackberry format.

You must mean that when downloading it was not in FLV format. Read the directions! Both sites say that when naming the file for download, you have to manually add the "flv" extension. E.g., "pearldemo.flv."

Otherwise, the download will be "get video" or whatever.

If you downloaded any videos just rename them to include the "flv" extension and that will take care of it.

There is an abundance of ways of doing it as many have already suggested. Just google "youtube video download" and go from there. Good luck.

Just figured out I had videodownloader plugin on Firefox. Grabs vids quickly and easily off of youtube and then i can just encode them for my Pearl using the BB video converter program mentioned earlier.. works flawlessly.

Super glad I went on reading through this thread...

Bottom line to the OP, there's a hundred ways to download and convert YouTube videos, as all the posts have indicated.

Enjoy.

OK SO I've tried the FireFox Downloader plug-in because it seems like the most straight-forward way of doing it, but I'm getting this error:

FLV Online Converter - vixy.net

This page is an online converter, you just type in the URL from youtube/google, and select what format u want the video to be in from the dropdown list. There are a couple formats to choose from; Avi for Windows (Divx+mp3), MOV for MAC (MPEG4+mp3), MP4 for ipod/PSP (MPEG4+AAC), 3GP for Mobile (MPEG4+AAC), and MP3(Audio only).

I choose 3GP for Mobile and it seems to work fine on my pearl. Only things ive noticed is that sometimes while watching the video in the Pearl, you cannot use any of the controls of the Media player/ exit the application before the video has finished....im thinking maybe the .3gp files take too many system resources of the pearl, but i dunno..... Try it and let me know your experience.
