Default 8900 gps/ sat nav

Please Login to Remove!

I recently brought my 1st BB & was told by the shop assistant that it has sat nav, I can get the maps to show up but whenever i try to find my location, or search address I just get the waiting for satellite commenet that never seems to find a satelilite! Do i need to downloads something, or should it work directly out of the box?

For GPS to work, you need to be outside with a clear view of the sky. It can take 20 minutes to lock on - not normally, but be patient.

Do you have BB data plan?

As above, what map application are you using? Go to the GPS and Mapping section and check the yellow sticky at the top. It has reviews of most of the map applications. Most popular free ones tend to be BBMaps and GoogleMaps.

Hi, no sorry I am just using the maps that came installed on BB when i got it.
Do i need to use a different programme?

No it comes with an app called Blackberry Maps which is fine. You probably need to go to Options-Advanced-GPS and put Data Source as Device GPS andGPS Services to Location On and Location Aiding Enabled. Then you can hit the menu botton and Refresh GPS then it scans for satellites. Be outside if you can. When it locates you there will be latitude/longitude coordinates on that page. Then you're good to go.

google maps is a worthy download for the phone, use that Much more than the inbuilt mapping!

Default Vody Sat Nav

If your on Vodafone.....then you should have Vodafone Sat Nav.
Mine came preloaded not as good as TomTom but free!
