Here we see BigA in the basement of his parents' house helping to free lost souls
from the embarrassment of using BlackBerry products. He doesn't get out much.
Nice pic of your self. Is that a self sketch or did you take that with your iPhone. You are delusional. This guy is trying to rip on me for pointing out that RIM is done and has always been a broken platform.. All the while being an iPhone user him self.. Really. EPIC FAIL.

So what happened? Did the meanies on all the iPhone boards kick you off or ignore you?

I for one am glad that we are here to make sure you have a place to vent. It is probably saving a great many neighborhood pets....

Enjoy yourself until no one pays any attention, which should be pretty soon....I know this is my last acknowledgment of your existence.

BigA reminds me of those creepers walking up and down the street with the "End Is Near" signs. I always get a good laugh and then move on.

Latest Yankee Group Survey of Smartphone Buyers:

40% of European smartphone buyers intend to buy an iPhone next

It's about European buyers. Here's the breakdown:

iPhone: 40%
Android: 19%
BlackBerry: 17%
Nokia: 15%

No surprise that both iOS and Android are outselling BlackBerry. That hasn't been news for over a year. But 17% is still enough of a customer base to keep RIM in business. A surprising takeaway from this survey is Nokia being down at #4. Until this quarter they were the #1 smartphone maker in the world, and Europe was a bastion of Nokia support. Apple and Samsung both passed Nokia in smartphone sales, and in 2012 HTC will push them to #4.

There are always staunch haters and staunch defenders on forums but the intelligent people fall somewhere in between, especially in a situation like this where it's obvious to anyone but the most devoted fanboi that BB needs to turn it around. I was a BB owner for years and I literally waited almost 3 years for BB to bring out a competitive device before I finally couldn't wait any more and switched. I read every new announcement hoping they would give me some good reason to upgrade to an exciting new phone.

Frankly now that I've got my Android Thunderbolt, I realize it was a mistake to wait so long because my mobile productivity has shot through the roof, I didn't realize just how much I was missing out on with my old Bold. Not to mention that my phone is now actually not only a productivity tool but FUN! I'm not sitting here hoping for BB to fail, I'm hoping to see them turn it around and bring out some competitive phones that do what they do so well, while also doing what they currently don't do well.

Re: rambo47's comments above, the issue isn't whether 17% is enough to keep RIM in business, that's plenty, it's whether their market share is going to continue to drop like an anchor. In this market it can happen incredible fast. aka Palm and others.

I've still got my eye on the Bold 9900, but I want to see it in store before deciding on it.

Its an internal issue. RIM's window of opportunity to turn things around is dwindling and while I believe it is still possible the current internal culture projected by management leaves me doubtful unless they can bring in a new CEO whos not afraid to make dramatic changes.
