Default Blackberry 9000 release date (UK) 7th July - Info Required

Please Login to Remove!

Hi
Vodafone in the UK have stated a release date of "quote" 7th July for the bold (enterprise) and 22nd July for bold (prosumer/internet).
Having had a number of blackberrys this confuses me as I thought all the devices were the same regardless if you run them from a corporate BES server or a desktop redirector.
Is this just vodafone making perhaps limited initial stock available to its larger clients or is there a real difference on the handsets?

Wirelessly posted

The devices are the same.

Vodafone reported profits of £10.1 Billion a few weeks ago!

Blackberry enterprise service makes them more money than BIS. I would imagine so they probably want to get as many business users as possible onto the Bold.

Vodafones BIS tariff is very pricey compared to the other networks. I wouldn't use them.

Like Foxglove said, it's the same device, but corporate users (Vodafone's bread-and-butter client base for BBs) will get them first, several weeks before everyone else. Most likely this is due to the initial crush of orders with a limited supply. It may also be a little "thank you" to corporate (BES) users - give them the new hotness before everyone else and let them get the admiring/jealous looks.

I called Rogers yesterday to ask about this June 25 release date. They said no and that it was now coming out at the end of the summer/fall time period as the Iphone will have the market for the entire summer. Anyone else been told this?

I find this very unlikely. Why would they NOT sell the number 1 pda in the world, to sell the number 3? that seems like a very bad business move.

Orange told me today using their new 'chat' service, they sent me a copy of the conversation on email, August time.

Vodafone said 30th July, an email that I received yesterday 17th June.

Can't wait!!!
