Default When connecting BB to laptop via USB cable, getting loopback address

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Laptop - DHCP address
Has BB Manager on it. 4.6
Connect remotely to the laptop without BB plugged in
Plug in BB via USB cable - connection drops
VNC address/local adapter address - 127.0.0.1
Exit from BB Manager as I know this has to be running for tethered modem function to work, as I think this is what is at play.
No change

Using Bes 4.x. No policy on the server that states BBs able to be used as tethered modems.

No other BB does it that has a user account on the BES server.

Have since set a static IP but haven't tested it yet - someone came into user's office saying someone nicked his wallet.

Anyone heard/experienced this happening?

I read this post at least 8 times and I still can't figure out what you're trying to say.

Wow. Sorry about that.

I'm wondering:

How is the laptop getting a loopback address when the blackberry is connected via USB?

It should keep it's original IP. It is connected to the network via an ethernet cable.

If all else fails look at the title and last line.

Thanks in advance.

Errr found out what the issue was. There was a logitech wireless dongle plugged in for the mouse and keyboard. Once this was disconnected, the blackberry wasn't getting a loopback address [which may have been because the laptop was using too much power when the BB was plugged in, so shut off the local area network adapter]

So disconnected the logitech dongle, and now I can connect via VNC to the laptop with the BB plugged into it.

And the user can get a cuppa while I keep working.

Happy days.
