Default how to retrieve the user selected time range in the Blackberry calendar ??

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

Does anyone know how to retrieve the user selected time range in the Blackberry calendar in JAVA?

What is the user selected date in the blackberry calendar?

==> It is the time range selected by the user. When the blackberry end-user selects a time range in the calendar and then run the "New" command to create a new appointment, then the start and end fields of the newly opened appointment are initialized with the time range selected by the user.

Thanks,

Mikaël Donini.

I'm assuming there isn't a documented way to do this in the API. That is a good assumption since what you seem to want to do is pull temporary data out of the User Interface of another program.

The first problem is to have your code executed when the time range is selected. The API documents a way of putting menus into many of the Blackberry applications. IIRC the Calendar is supported. The user could make the selection, then activate your menu item.

At that point I would think you would have to detect the active screen, search the object list to find out how RIM implemented that User Interface. Then interrogate the appropriate objects for the data you want. Some developers refer to this a screen scraping as it is analogous to pulling data off an HTML page (page scraping) and is done for the same reason, ie web developers don't usually provide programmatic access to their back end data.

Of course the downfall with this is any change to the way the UI is implemented will break screen scraping.
