Default EA Issue

Please Login to Remove!

now, this is probably on here already, but i searched and didnt see anything, when ever i sync a new phone to the BES, on intial sync the EA will pull sent items from Exchange into messages...... my workaround is i get the user to archive the sent items to and run a manual rec, and this will remove them and no more come through, its not hugely annoying, its just something i want to fix to streamline the process (minimize user interaction until the phone is given out)

We have users with 10k+ in sent items.
Never been an issue here.

Good lord Knotty you need a retention policy

I believe on the BB you can go into Messages / Options / Email Options / Menu / Folder Redirection and after expanding the mailbox uncheck sent items. I believe you can set this on the BES as well but I'm OOO until next week to verify.

Maybe an obvious suggestion?

Have you tried configuring the BB to hide sent items?

Messages > options > General Options > Hide Sent Messages - set to yes.

i think i might have explained it wrong, on EA, it pulls some of the sent items from the exchange in the inbox on the BB, hide sent items and filed items are both selected, and when they archive the sent items the sent items disappear......

and its not that i dont want the sent messages on the bb, it just dont want them in the same view as the inbox messages....

out of curiosity, anyone else had above issue? its still affects us and haven't found a solution yet.

and to re explain the issue, when i run EA on a handset, it will take some sent items from exchange and pull them into the inbox on the handset, but never again after the initial EA, and its frustrating having the users archive their sent items every time i run a EA, to ensure the process is sucessfull and cause as little confusion to the users as possible.
.
Any help as usuall is appreciated.

It takes "sent" items from Exchange, and puts them into the "inbox" on the handset.

Do you mean, it changes the "sent" items (which should come across with a check mark next to them) to actual "messages" (with an envelope next to them)? Or do you mean when you open Messages (on the BB), click for a menu and go to View Folder - Inbox, it shows Sent messages there? Or do you just not want to see "sent" items (with the check mark) in your messages database?

Sorry! I just want to be clear about what's going on here.

Search the BTSC for "prepopulation"

There are issues where some message folders are merged or some issues where sents items show as new messages received.

Here's one doc I found for Domino but I'm not sure if it applies to your environment.

no worries, the messages come up with a envelope next to them, no check mark, so for example, i run a EA on a handset, and upon completion there are several messages which are 'sent' messages in outlook, coming up as received messages on the handset, (no check mark, envelope). and the solution i use is to get the user to archive their sent items, and run a manual rec. i have already set yes to hide sent messages and hide filed messages. like i said, it nothing to painful to get the user to do, just aggravating and im trying to minimize user involvement in the process.

cheers

Josh
