This guide is going to assume you already know how to use the guide on how to convert Nokia and Motorola MIDlets for the blackberry.

If you have not seen this walkthough before, you need to read that, and get comfortable using this before you can continue with this guide.

This is a great guide, and is awesome, ecept for when you load the apps through the javaloader.exe like it dictates, the apps are reased every time you add/remove modules, such as loading a new app thought the "Application Loader" though desktop manager.

I figured out a way around this.

First you must have a converted application. For laughs, I used an Asteroids clone that I already converted from my old nextel phone to the COD and other files for the Blackberry.

You need to have a downloaded app to work with, somehting specifically for the blackberry. I used blackberry411. Extract the .alx file, and open it with Wordpad (this will NOT work with Notepad). All you have to do is replace the name of the application you got the alx file from, in this caes BB411, and replcxe it with the name of the app you want to put on yoru blackberry, in this case called Asteroids.

The real key is the line of the file that says :

<Files>
Whatever.cod
</Files>

You need to make sure that says the name of the COD file of the app you are going to use.

Finally save it and rename the .ALX file to what ever the name of the .COD file is, just leaving the .ALX extension in tact.

So, for Blackberry411 I started with

Then just run the Application Loader on the desktop managed and point it to your new app and's ALX file, making sure the ALX and the COD file are in the same directory, and you are good to go. Now whenever you add new applications, or anything like that, the program wont dissapear.

On a lst note, some people might think tha editing a file that was packaged with another application is wrong, but the ALX file is not a application-specific file, its more of like a Blackberry-batch file. No coding involved, just the info about the app its loading.
