Default BB9900 Latency

Please Login to Remove!

My BB9900 has the same issues (just not as bad) as my original Torch from 2 years ago; latency. The little clock will appear on a regular basis spinning around and around locking up the phone from operating until it's completed its' task. Please advise if you experience the same issues....I suspect this is caused by a slow processor.

Nope - could be network related, say if you're on 2G/3G instead of 4G or H+. That would do it...or you could have some apps causing it...or you may just need to reload the OS...but I never see the black clock and have no latency issues. I have a 9900 on Bell and another one on T-mobile....

How much free memory do you have? Do you have a lot of apps installed?

Also please provide more information on the problem, i.e. define latency, define what you are doing, etc.

Did this just begin? If so what did you do just before it happened?

Have you tried a battery pull?

I have the same problem. I am on a Movistar network. I sometimes get the black clock but recently i am having to wait between 3-5 seconds before i can unlock my cell. I have it password protected and it takes 3-5 seconds before the unlock menu comes up.

I am really frustrated with the OS which I think is causing the problem. I encounter this latency when i switch tap on emails or between groups in bbm. Is there a fix for the OS coming soon?

It is considered bad manners to hijack another user's thread, especially when your problem/question is different and you are using a different device (i.e. OP is on a 9900, you have a 9700 per your profile - big difference). It is best to start a new thread.

But since you are new, what OS are you running?

What is the entire OS number - i.e. 7.0.0.598 or 7.1.0.497 are the latest for the 9900.

It reads: current version is 7.0.0 Bundle 1672

I got the phone three weeks ago.

I must have missed this one - 7.1.0.497? Where can I find that one? I'm on .205 and I have not been able to find a higher leak...

Sorry for the hijack -

Sticky at the top of the 9900 section. However, if your device is working as you want and need, I do not recommend upgrading. If it isn't broken, there is no need to try to fix it with an OS upgrade.

The latency problem continues without resolve. The spinning clock appears on a regular basis and prevents the device from anything until the spinning clock has stopped. This is not network related in that I am on AT&T 4G and it occurs regardless of what is currently open. This is my 2nd 9900 and I am experiencing the same issues which first appeared on my original BB Torch from 2 years ago. It's not as bad as the original Torch but it proves quite frustrating.

You have not provided any details about apps...etc...so no one can really help you....

Good luck with your 9900!
