What does "officially unlocked" mean?

This means that you don't need to worry about upgrading to newer firmware as the phone is unlocked by apple and not through other methods delivered by the hacking communities such as the Devteam.

You are correct, official unlock means the unlock is done by Apple which means that you won't need to use hacks or jailbreak to unlock it and you can upgrade anytime the firmware without having to fear loosing the unlock.

Now the phone is longer available since a friend of mine bought it, but i have another one but still debating if i sell it or not. I wil decide in a week or 2.
