Default OS: 8130 4.5.0.205/4.5.0.138 (Multilanguage) (ESN devices)

Please Login to Remove!

Software For BlackBerry® Pearl (TM) 8130 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.205 (Multilanguage)

This is from Bluegrass Cellular , but will load to ANY 8130 by following the instructions below.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.205 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.205
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.5.0.138
* Software Platform: 3.4.0.30
* File name: 8130uAMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel205_PL3.4.0.30_A4.5.0.138.ex e
* File size: 87.81MB

Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.
Download here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...821DC88FEA0631

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8130:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

How to determine if you have an ESN or MEID based device.

From the main menu, select Options, then select Status.
ESN devices - On the Status screen you will see ESN on the display
MEID devices xxx8211; On the Status screen you will see MEID on the display.
NOTE xxx8211; You cannot install ESN-based software on a MEID device, nor can you install MEID-based software on an ESN device. They are NOT interchangeable.

Previous OS can be found here:http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

Thanks, I'm on vacation and wanted to reinstall the OS to get off the enterprise network for now. This is perfect timing, might as well upgrade while at it!

I use the Vodafone theme. Here's my list of removed modules for this one. Does anyone remove anything more to get even more aggressive on memory saving?

The OS download error'd out on me about halfway through, and now I'm no longer able to get back to the download page...keeps giving me page load/network timeout errors. Anyone else having this issue?

EDIT: Got it to work, downloaded and installed to phone just fine. Haven't noticed any differences yet, when compared to 4.5.0.177(127) or 4.5.0.188(131)...those being the last two OSs I've used recently. Then again I haven't dived too far in to it yet. Couldn't tell you about the free memory or performance, when I did this upgrade I used it as a chance to rid of a few bulky apps that I don't ever use anymore, so naturally my phone is running a bit faster with more free space which may or may not be contributed to by the new OS.

One small thing I did notice, not sure if it has anything to do with the update...prior to this OS when my phone was idle/blacked out and I tapped the trackball, it would take like 2-3 seconds for the phone to light up and show my homescreen. Now it's instant.

Glad to hear the backlight delay has been resloved, that was getting annoying.

I'm updating as I type

Does signal strength seem a bit weaker with this version?

Just updated this on my Alltel 8130 from r177, seems to be running very smooth.

I can confirm the backlight delay has been fixed. I haven't noticed any other specific changes but I'll post if I find anything.

Update: The backlight delay has come back, but it's not constant. Sometimes there's a delay, sometimes there's not.

I'm now also having a data in/out issue, here at home under 1X or in town under 1XEV. 75% of the time I try to run gmail, beejiveIM or bbweather...it sends/receives no data at all, just sits there loading, no errors which is really weird. Once in a while it will work fine. Tethering shows no issues like this. I did go from the last OS to an older Alltel OS to this OS within the last 24 hours because I've been trying to fix an issue, maybe that has something to do with it?

My data connection when opening Google Maps, Gmail, and other apps was also kind of dead when using for the first times, also... But it eventually just started working somehow... I think. Very strange indeed.

backlight delay still happens for me, but not all the time.

I've noticed that when the screen shuts off and you press right away, it's responsive.

Leave it for 20 min and press the trackball, there is a delay. Not as big of delay if you unlock the keyboard (* + phone) instead of using the trackball to engage the screen.

Only problem I've seen so far.

Been running this for a couple days now, seems ok. Black light delay fixed for me. However battery Performance seems to have taken a hit opposed to previous releases. I used to be at about 60% after a full day of moderate usage (texting, web, and BBM mainly) now its droped to about 40-45%. Not a huge drop, but noticeable.

Have you tried a hard reset after upgrading? This has happened to me with previous updates and it usually solves the problem.

Is this a battery pull or something else? Different folks use different terms for these things.

If your talking about a battery pull then yes, I believe I have, just did it again just to be sure. I'll report back after the workday if there is any difference

Yes, I meant hard-reset as in a physical battery pull as opposed to the soft-reset (from apps like SoftReset or QuickPull) that many have grown accustomed to.

I also can confirm that the backlight delay persists. I don't even bother pushing the trackball anymore.

One thing I do like is that under Media Player options, you can set the Reserved Pictures Memory to 0Mb. I'm not sure if that changed with this version but it gained me 2Mb!

Backlight delay was fixed for me. Everything looks good so far.

Good find on the reserved pictures memory...mine was actually already set to 0Mb...can't remember if i set this to 0Mb previously.

I'm really really freakin' frustrated. This is the second update that I have not been able to install. I follow all of the steps: download, install, delete, run. It goes through and does some stuff. But it only takes about 10 minutes tops. And says my device is successfully, updated. However, when I check the device, I'm still running 4.3!!!

When I try again, it says my device is up-to-date. When clearly the device is NOT up-to-date.

WTF gives??? Why does the Loader think I'm all good? I'm running DM 4.5. Is there some file I can delete somewhere tell it to force the install? This is really frustrating.

The reserved picture memory option has been there for a long time - it was there in 4.3 (and maybe earlier, that was the first OS I used).
