Default 7130e screen size w/ calendar

Please Login to Remove!

I am thinking about getting a 7130e which I would mostly use to keep track of my calendar and schedule. I don't currently have a data plan for my phone so I probably won't be using it for email. My main concern is the size of the screen when using the calendar. Has this been an issue for anyone? Thanks.

If you're not going to be getting a data plan or using email... the BlackBerry is probably a poor choice for you.
You've already taken away all of the device's strengths.

In my opinion, you'd be better off with a Windows Mobile smartphone or a Palm based smartphone.

Is it possible to use it for e-mail but not data transfer? Right now I am on a family plan with my parents and don't really have the money to be paying for a full data plan. The 7130 seemed like the best option because a used one is much cheaper than most of the other similar smartphones out there and I didn't want to have to have two separate devices, like having a cell phone and a palm pilot. It seems like a great tool to get rid of clutter too... I am sick and tired of all my little scraps of paper that I currently use to "organize" my life with. Why do you recommend the windows mobile smart phone or the palm phone? It seems like they essentially have the same functionality.

You need the BlackBerry Data plan for email, or any sort of data transfer on the BlackBerry device.
In fact, Verizon will automatically add the data plan when you activate the BlackBerry. They force it on you.

The BlackBerry is not a PDA, which is what you seem to be looking for.
A BlackBerry is a mobile email device first, with some basic PIM functions for calendar, etc. PIM is not one of the BlackBerry device's strong points.

You can get better PIM functions on a Windows Mobile device or a Palm device and not have to worry about having an expensive data plan tied to your account.
