Hi everyone, I hope someone can help. My wife has a blackberry 9300 curve. Whenever she adds a song to her phone (copying an mp3 file from the computer in to the music folder on the phone's sd card), the phone takes around 15-20 minutes, sometimes longer, to update the library and be ready for use. During this time, the phone is unusable as it appears to have crashed.

I'm certain this isn't normal. Can anyone shed any light on it?

Also, under virtually every artist listing is also a "UNKNOWN" listing, as well as the actual artist/album, which when you go into is blank. Can anyone explain this?

Not sure about the Unknown part. Perhaps its a poorly encoded MP3?

Has she tried a battery pull to reboot the phone (always speeds things up).

If she's like me (37000 files on micro sd card) you may just have to get used to waiting a bit after a file transfer and file re-scan. But 15-20 min is ridiculous

If this is a recent problem, and she's had her 9300 for quite some time, like a few months, its time for an OS upgrade or refresh

This is similar, in effect, to wiping your hard drive on your PC and installing windows from scratch.... Everything speeds up again, just like when it was new.

This holds true for smartphones. They eventually get tangled up with code fragments, slowing down the processor and eating up memory. When the memory (Ram) level gets too low, the amount of time it takes to get Anything done becomes frustrating.
