I will definitely be calling customer care, but my gut tells me that they won't budge on what I paid. Won't hurt to try, however. I still don't believe this is a nationwide deal, although I agree with you that it seems odd that it would be only in New York.

I walked into the ATT store on Monroe street in chicago. I asked how much for the bold 9700. I told them I am already a customer. the salesman said he would sell it to me for 350.00. there was no pricing posted. Needless to say I walked out without saying a word.
I went to a store in the suburbs were I have purchased all my att phones for the past 6 years. I was told right away that the phone is 149.00 with the using the 100.00 mail in rebate. I picked one up right away.

I've been in 2 NYC AT&T stores and both are selling for $299 without a commitment. $49 after mail-in rebate. I paid $449 no commitment price from an AT&T Product Center and will be returning that one, unless they credit me the $150.

No reason to think the intel above is wrong, so my newest assumption is this is an early Black Friday offer from AT&T corporate stores in New York, and it should be available for that price point throughout the country later this week. One thing is certain, I'm not buying one in a store until this issue gets resolved. Annoying, and it's not the fault of the local stores, who never get updated information anyway. Always in the dark.

I called ATT and the CS rep told me 299 less 100 less another 100 and no 18 fee for whatever (the last two because they like me so much, per her) for a total of $99 (plus 8.75% tax on $299 I suspect). I'm in San Diego.

What the heck? I just got off the phone and they didn't have that deal. Argh! And as I posted in another thread, I called a NJ store and was told "the phone is $50 after a $100 rebate." Holy cow! I want my refund! Now to figure out how to get it...

I just got off the phone with Corporate Customer Care (twice) and they both told me the same thing. They can adjust what I paid down to the $150 price, but they cannot enable the MIR for my purchase (which I made on the phone through them yesterday). They said I have to take it back to the store and return it within 30 days, and buy it back at the lower price. Unbelieveable.

I called Business Care as well, and was told $99 after rebates, but they won't price match. So, I need to return the phones and get them from Business Care.

Um... no. I'm headed to the store after lunch to see if I can work this mess out.

I just upgraded my phone through Free Cell Phones with New Cell Phone Plans - Shop Deals from Wireless Carriers - Wirefly.com and got the 9700 for $89.99 out the door with no rebates or tax.

Exclamation not so sure

i just called the corp in white plains NY
selling for 250 + taxes then gets 100 mir
so sells for 150

not sure about radio shack [they give rebates instantly so you would pay for 150 not the 250 ]

It could be a HUGE mistake that some stores in NYC are selling it for $300 without contract and $150 2-year + $100 MIR.

It would make sense. I wouldn't be suprised. The real price is supposed to be $299.99 plus a $100 MIR on a 2 year.

Maybe bad communication? I would be suprised they haven't caught on yet, but who knows. Could be a huge mistake on AT&T's part for that district.

It has to be a mistake. Check out the press release...

"The BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone will be available in AT&T stores on November 22 for $199.99 (pay $299.99 and receive $100 mail-in-rebate.)"

According to AT&T when I called them, regional pricing can and often does differ, so it may be a mistake, but it may not. Heck, even AT&T quoted me $99 after rebate through Business Care, so obviously the pricing isn't as solid as we might expect.

I called ATT told them T-Mobile had the same phone for $149, they gave me a $50 dollar credit to my account and I purchased the phone for $199 (after rebate).

Wirefly is showing it at $439 (shipped to NJ) with no upgrade/contract. Makes me think the $300 price is a mistake. Wirefly is not known for price gouging. Just the opposite in fact. Doesn't mean than can't gouge, but it's not their typical m.o.

Okay- another log on the fire. I stopped into an ATT store last night here in Queens, NY. $49 AFTER $100 rebate. They were out of stock and would have them today. Before I went to check today I received a coupon for $50 off any phone (except iPhone and GoPhones) for "Black Friday". good from opening til Noon. I stopped at the store to confirm. yup, no problem- IF they still have them in stock. Sooooo, that $49 price after rebate, along with the coupon means that ATT will owe ME $1.

it is not a price mistake....

The stores in tri-state area have a "faxed" price tag/card that goes over the regular high quality price tags under the phones.

Also Craig Carton of Boomer and Carton show on WFAN (radio) in the morning did his usual radio spot for ATT and mentioned the Bold 2 for $49.99 after rebates that will expire Dec 30, 2009. So we have an expiration date to add as well.

sure it sucks, that they have different prices in regions, but it is what it is.. Luckily I got it on the cheap.. I think I will pick up a spare bold 2 this week just in case for the future... I got an 11 month at home who chews everything.
