I called the NJ store and they confirmed the price. I called AT&T, but they said they cannot adjust the price I paid. They said I had to return it to the store to get the cheaper price. That doesn't help me since I'm not in the NY/NJ area though. We'll see if that's the black Friday price on Friday I guess.

How does an ATT customer who is not eligible for an upgrade get a good deal on a new 9700?

I am trying to decide between the Bold 9700 and the Storm 2 - ATT won't give me any love for an upgrade.

Thanks.

Ask about early upgrade. You extend your contract two years and pay regular upgrade price plus $75. Doesn't always work, but it doesn't hurt to try.

ATT won't sell me an upgrade until April 2010 - so how will this comany over turn ATT's policy and sell me the upgrade so cheap?

Sorry for the questions - I never purchased thru wirefly.

They might not as that price is not guaranteed for everyone. Wirefly's prices fluctuate just like AT&T's do.

You won't be able to do the upgrade option. Wirefly calls AT&T to verify that you qualify for an upgrade.

You're right! I bought the 9700 through Wirefly yesterday for $89.99. And today they have it for $49.99. Damn, I'm calling them right now to get the difference back.

EDIT: Never mind. $49.99 is with a new account. $89.99 is with an upgrade to an existing account.

Well, at least you did better than me. I'm still trying to figure out how to get some money back from AT&T, but they dang sure don't like to give it up once they've gotten it!

I got them to agree to give me a credit down to $150, but they won't do the MIR part. If you find a way to get credit down the $50, PM me and let me know how you did it. I may keep the phone in the box for a month on the off chance that I get a flight to the NYC area. ;)

I will, but I don't expect that to happen.

Return it to AT&T and then get it from Wirefly for $89.99.
