I went to two stores today and was told $299 - $100 mail-in rebate for an upgrade (in the Chicago area).

Funny how all the great deal like $300 with no contract don't supply any details about their SUPER DEAL

I was a little more than one year into my 2 year contract and due for a new device. I signed a new 2 year contract to get the net $50 price.

I don't buy the whole "9700 for $50" thing. No details on any of them.

Default $150 Net

I'm a premier customer and got the phone for $250 (i guess down from $299) and got a $100 rebate I need to send it.
If it can be purchased for less (on an upgrade) let me know how.

I'm shocked..The original posting is 100% correct! All corporate stores are supposed to be at this price point- $149 with a $100 rebate. I called 2 stores in NYC this afternoon and was very surprised to hear the price. I'm guessing this is a combo of the phone not costing to much to manufacture, and the ads Verizon has been putting out about at&t's spotty 3G coverage.

What makes you think "all corporate stores are supposed to be at this price point?" AT&T online (the mother ship of corporate stores) shows $299 less $100 with a mail-in rebate. The two corporate stores in metro Atlanta where I looked for the phone (and ultimately bought two) also showed $299 less $100 with a mail-in rebate. Why some stores are selling them lower is beyond me, but I would love to know why you think the lower price is the norm rather than the exception.

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop... what's going to happen when these particular stores realize they have been selling the phone too cheap?

I'm going over to my local AT&T owned store again tomorrow. I think the net price I saw on Sunday was $199.00 after a $100.00 instant rebate. Pretty sure that what I saw. Online it's a mail-in rebate. Still can't confirm this net $50.00 price that some are posting about.

Just got off the phone with my local corporate owned store. The confirmed 2-year price is $199.00 net after an INSTANT $100.00 rebate with a 2-year agreement for new or existing customers. What's also interesting is that the 9700 is not in stock. All they had since Sunday was 2 live demo units. They expect stock tomorrow afternoon.

Got mine this morning as soon as the AT&T store opened. $149.99 less mail in rebate for $100. My brother ordered yesterday online and they gave him the $299 less $100. So he promptly called them and they gave him a credit. The CS he spoke too told him that the internet price was different as the corporate store price. What a scam!

i got an email tonight with first link below. assuming it's for real, does anyone know whether this new 9700 will benefit from the new "HSPA 7.2" network improvements recently reportedly rolled out in dallas area? IF NOT, I'M WONDERING IF THERE IS ANY REASON TO MOVE FROM CURRENT 9000 (BOLD) TO NEW 9700. thx

Wirelessly posted (by Tombo)

My local walmart in texas is selling the 9700 with either a new 2 year or 2 year upgrade for $128. I assume that's after a MIR.

What makes me think that? Because that's what the manager of the store I called told me! And I would assume a manager knows a little bit more about price then we do, I would assume anyway. And I called up customer care and they debited my card the difference. The rep said it's for this week, Black Friday early! But I think it's staying this way after this week.

Well, then maybe AT&T ought to tell the corporate stores here in Atlanta, because the ones I have been to are not offering these prices. Besides, being a manager at AT&T doesn't automatically make a person more knowledgeable. Stop by some time and check out some of the managers here in the Atlanta stores. Not particularly awe inspiring.

I don't know, sounds nuts to offer a deal like this only in NYC! I would check back with them on Friday! Maybe they just decided to hit the holiday cheer a little early. Most corporate stores are also open until 9pm starting tonight. If all else fails, call customer care and get a refund of what u deserve back.
